YOUR POV
Moving to next week after Haruto counseled me that day, my mental state improved.
I was lost in thoughts at times, John shook my shoulder and I came into composure. I looked to the side and asked, "You startled me. What is it?"
"Are you okay? Why are you here? You need a break."
I guess he is worried.
"I'm fine? You don't have to worry about me~"
"We will handle everything, so go home."
"My shift is almost over, can I stay a little bit longer?"
"You've been zoning out a lot, so leave~"
"Are there any complaints against me?" I asked my co-workers sulkily.
All of them glanced at one another and shrugged, "We have none. You can go home peacefully now. We got this."
Haruto's words just the other day came to mind.
You get help from them because you are loved.
"Thank you~ I'll see you next week!"
I went to the backroom to get changed and ready to go home. However, something was missing. I wanted to see Jeongwoo.
What's wrong with me?
Why am I so eager to meet him again?
Am I the only one who's in love with him?
I then heard noises going on and I went out after changing my clothes.
Why is dad here? How do I address him?
I couldn't let out my voice. He has been very busy these days that he knows nothing about my situation. I never told him anything.
However, must I keep things secret? I don't want to hide and lie to everyone.
I gathered my courage and took steps forward, "Dad, what are you doing here?"
Everyone knows our relationship now.
I am unable to look at him properly as I clenched my grips while keeping my composure with a smile on my face. He did something unexpected in public.
He intertwined his fingers with mine and comforted me by rubbing my hand, saying, "I came to fetch you since we're going on a trip."
"Oh, we're leaving today?"
"Yes, we will leave and pick up your unnie."
I didn't even notice that we were gaining so much attention and that there was gossip going around the cafe. As we left the restaurant, I looked up to him again and asked, "Are you not mad?"
"For what?"
"The way I addressed you today wasn't the appropriate and right timing."
"What made you do it?"
"It was not necessary for me to hide and lie to everyone anymore."
"Then it was the right thing to do, but do you regret it?"
"No, not even the slightest chance that I would regret it!"
Both of us giggled happily as we made our way to the practice. However, I wasn't expecting to see the worst with dad. The two were verbally fighting. The boys, as well as everyone else, were watching.
Why did this have to happen?
Dad isn't aware of this yet.
"Why are you doing this to me? Did I hurt you in any way?"
"Did you do that on purpose in order to expose our identities? How could you hurt my sister like that in public?"
"I didn't know anything, and my dad was to blame, so why are you mad at me?"
"You should've chosen a better place, but why the cafeteria?"
"Unnie, don't you think you're going too far? You're a staff and you are harassing a trainee."
"It is always my sister that comes first. I will not forgive anyone who tries to hurt my sister, do you understand?"
When my father let go of my hand, I gasped, "Dad...."
"What's going on here?"
I hid behind dad and looked away from all the eyes now watching us. That look in their eyes makes me sick to my stomach. Sukhee gasped shockingly, "D-Sir, how long have you been here?"
"Yuni and Sukhee, please come to my office."
When they left, there was a lot of awkwardness and tension, which was the worst part.
Staff and managers have also left to continue their duties.
I have been left behind along with the trainees and the boys.
I was about to leave when the girls suddenly stopped me and asked, "Don't you have anything to say? How could you ruin Yuni's dream by hiding your identity? Aren't you also to blame for being rude when we came as customers?"
Gritting my teeth, I didn't want to say anything since I've had enough of this.
With no emotions in my eyes, I said, "I'm sorry, I admit that I'm to blame."
They scoffed at me in disbelief and one shoved me to the ground, saying, "Yah? Do you think that's good enough? Do you think you're above us now that you're the CEO's daughter?"
"Stop it," I muttered quietly.
"Oh right, you and your unnie were adopted, right? Then you both were orphans? That's really shocking, you know? I guess you guys begged the CEO-"
A sudden loud break was heard, and someone said, "Stop it."
Hearing those again broke my heart. I lost my ability to comprehend what was going on around me when my mind went black.
Was it our fault that we were orphans?
My body has no strength.
There was no one I could rely on since I was too tired.
When I felt the hands that raised me in a bridal style, I knew at once that it was him.
His scent...is it Jeongwoo?
His body is so warm.
I felt calm.
In order to avoid showing my face to anyone, I leaned on his shoulder just this once. Jeongwoo comforted me in his own way, but I was unable to hear him as I fell asleep on his shoulders.
"I wish you'd called me the other day. I hated myself that Haruto took you."
