Distant Problems

The team walks in, finding Kasie has made Gibbs cupcakes. For one reason, who would make the big grizzly bear pink cupcakes and what was Kasie up to, maybe she was trying to convince Gibbs to help her out with a problem.

McGee: "Kase..what are you doing?"
Kasie: "After Jack left I started thinking things over."

Bishop: "Hey don't fix what isn't broken."

Kasie: "Oh no nothing like that. I've been down in that cave for 3 years, now I admire Abby's 15 years down there, but momma needs a change."

Torres: "What is she talking about?"
McGee: "She's talking about changing places with accounting."
Bishop: "They already complained to HR about that."
McGee: "And went on strike."
Kasie: "Yeah, but I was thinking maybe I could convince Gibbs to, ya know....work his magic."

McGee: "Meaning you want him to scare the crap out 'em."
Kasie: "The man just needs the right push."
McGee: "I can think of a few other adjectives that might describe our boss better."

Torres: "Grouchiest."
Bishop: "Angriest."
McGee: "Loneliest."

Torres: "Grumpiest."

Gibbs: "Quietest?"

All: "Heh, yeah..."

Bishop: "But also fairest."
McGee: "Strongest."
Torres: "Coolest."
Kasie: "Gibbs can I uh ask you to do me a favor?"
Gibbs: "Accounting already said no."

Kasie: "Please will you try?"
Gibbs: "Kase-"

Kasie: "Please?"
Gibbs: "Fine."
Kasie: "Thank you Gibbs."
Gibbs: "Grab your gear, dead Marine."

Vance stops the team in their tracks when he calls the fearless leader into MTAC for a private talk with The United States Secretary Of Defense Curt Seymour to discuss some private business, but to Vances surprise, SecDef has everyone clear the room including him.

Vance: "That was different."
McGee: "Where's Gibbs?"
Vance: "SecDef is briefing him on a threat in Iraq."

Torres: "Why are you out here then?"
Vance: "He made me clear the room with everyone else."
Bishop: "I'm sure it's nothing, I mean you have the highest security anyway."

Vance: "No I don't, Gibbs does."

Bishop: "How is that even possible?"
McGee: "No offence to you Director, but there have been 3 Directors and one Leroy Jethro Gibbs."

Bishop and Torres: "Makes sense."
McGee: 'Nothing to worry about, I'm Gibbs will read you in anyway.'

Bishop: "Speaking of which here he comes."

Gibbs comes back down to the bullpen with an unusual look on his face. Bishop asks him what's wrong.

Bishop: "Gibbs you alright?"
Gibbs: "Tim..you're in charge."

McGee: "You taking some time off boss?"

Gibbs: "No."

Bishop: "What's going on?"

McGee: "Boss are you okay?"

Flashback to Iraq, 2015.

Gibbs is walking through an Iraqi village, when he is stopped by this young girl, she is part of the terror organization "The Calling"

Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo was on his bosses 6 when he got a disturbing call from the mastermind behind this terrible group.

DiNozzo was distracted and CIA officer Teague who is also the mother of fallen NCIS Ned Dornneget is being bombarded by small children.

The young woman Gibbs is talking to is telling him that the boy is in Iraq.

Luke Harriss, a 12 year old boy who Gibbs was trying to help, walked up behind him and shouted "AGENT GIBBS!"

Gibbs turned around being met by a Luke with a SIG sauer in his hand Gibbs goes to draw his weapon, but Luke pulls the trigger first leading to a devastating bullet blow to Gibbs left knee, as Gibbs is in pain trying to talk to the boy, he delivers one final shot to Gibbs chest sending him into a whirlwind of pain and thoughts of what he did wrong and how he missed it.

Gibbs is left bleeding out on the Iraqi sand as DiNozzo and Teague do everything to keep him alive until a MEDEVAC can be sent out.

Flashback ends with Gibbs' concerned friends.

McGee: "Boss are you alright?"

Vance: "What did SecDef tell you in there?"

Gibbs: "I can't tell you."

Bishop: "Can you at least tell us where you are going?"
Gibbs: (Deep Breath) "..Iraq."

Bishop: "Gibbs you shouldn't do that."

McGee: "Boss the last time you went there-"
Gibbs: "I'll be fine, now go get our Marine, I leave in 2 hours."

Bishop: "When do you come back?"
Gibbs: "When I get back Bishop."

McGee: "Watch you back"

Bishop: "And for the love of god, come back in one piece with zero bullet holes and bomb blasts."

Torres: "Watch your 6 Gibbs."

They all get on the elevator, reluctantly, having an odd gut feeling about Gibbs op in Iraq. They were all equally concerned, but they also knew he was Gibbs and if anyone could make it through a place like that it would be him.
