XII ~ The Island

Percy wasn't dead. If he was, he'd be
wherever you go when you die. But no, he seemed to have washed up on an island.

Birds tweeted to him from trees at the edge of the beach, calling to each other in perfect harmony. Percy was lying in soft sand, the waves of the ocean just a few steps away. "Ugh..." he groaned, sitting up. Only then did he fully notice his surroundings.

A little way into the trees stood a small wooden hut. He could see a figure moving in the window, but couldn't tell who he/she was or what they were doing. Further into the trees, Percy could just make out a courtyard and a garden full of exotic plants.

Percy stumbled onto his feet. For some reason, his right ankle throbbed and he felt dizzy. When he lifted his left foot up and put his weight on his right, pain flared up his leg and he tripped, falling face-first into the sand.

"Ugh." He grumbled, spitting out a mouthful. Percy's right leg was lying on the sand. He tried to move it, but cried out in pain as it started throbbing again.

The figure in the window moved to the door. "Hello?" A soft melodic voice called out. The silhouette of a girl stood there. All Percy could make out was that she was very pretty.

"Help." He moaned, before his head fell back into the sand, and he remembered no more.

Thalia breathed in shock out as Annabeth ran from the room. A baby?! She thought. Annabeth is pregnant? I thought she didn't want it just yet! Of course, that last part was just what Thalia hoped.

Suddenly, the sound of royal trumpets came and the trotting of hooves. Athena slid out of her carriage and ran over to Thalia who had just came into the main entrance hall. "Where's Annabeth?" She asked.

"Up in her room, I think." Thalia replied. "Do you want to speak to her?"

"Yes, since Perseus is assumed dead, another boy has stepped forwards to marry her." Athena replied.

"What?!" Thalia shrieked, as a boy clambered out of the carriage. He had pale skin and wore all black, with a little bit of gold here and there. His eyes looked like sunken pits of darkness and his hair was a mop of black.

"Nico Di Angelo." He greeted, sticking his hand out for Thalia to shake. She just glowered and tried not to concentrate on the fact that although he was small, Nico did have a few muscles...

"Thalia Castallen." Thalia replied, causing Athena to gasp.

"You're married?"

"Engaged." Thalia spat, before running off.
