IX ~ An Unexpected Visit

The next few days were filled with swimming, dining on the beach, picnics and views of the sunset. After a week, a carriage arrived and Percy and Annabeth went to their new home, a big palace near Athens. The palace had been built years ago, but no one had any idea what to do with it until now.

A group of settlers were sent with them, and they built a village around the castle, and before long built walls protecting the village. They had watch-towers and battlements so that they could defend in an attack. They called the place Eria.

Warriors from Olympia came, including Percy's friends Grover, Frank and Jason. Rachel, Thalia, Piper, Hazel, Reyna, Octavian and Luke came too. They moved into the village.

The palace was huge. It had big dining halls and four towers with winding staircases. There was a Great Hall and plenty of bedrooms. Rachel, Piper, Hazel and Reyna were servants at the castle. There were also plenty others.

"I love this place." Annabeth sighed as she and Percy fell back onto their soft bed. They had a massive bedroom all to themselves. Oh please, I assure you that nothing has happened there in that way. Well, at least not yet.

"Me too." Percy grinned as he shut his eyes. Then he wrapped his arms around Annabeth and buried his face into her soft, silky hair.

"It's nice. We have a big palace, friends and a village."

"We're Royals." Percy said. "You're the Queen and I'm the King. If we ever have children they'll be Princes and Princesses." Annabeth's heart raced at the thought of children.

"Soon." She told him, then kissed his forehead. "Soon, not yet."

Of course, eventually weeks later they did what they were talking about, but I won't tell you much on that subject.

One day, Annabeth was sitting in her garden when a strange lady came up to her. She had big brown eyes and curly black hair that cascaded down her shoulders. Her dress was frilly pink and she had a golden crown in her hair. "Hello." She said to Annabeth.

"Um, hello." Annabeth replied. "Who are you?"

The woman laughed kindly. "I'm Queen Aphrodite from Atlantis. I've come to warn you."

"Warn me about what?"

Aphrodite's face darkened. "You and Percy will face hard times in your romance. Since it's an arranged marriage, there's a higher chance of you falling out of love than-"

"No! Stop! Please, go away." Annabeth cried, turning away from Aphrodite. "You're filling my head with lies!"

"But they are true dear, not false. I'm just here to warn you. All is not what it seems." When Annabeth turned back, Aphrodite was gone.
