━━ chapter xxvi.◆◇◇
"W-What is that thing?" Yayorozu murmured out, a sense of fear chilling down her spine as she stared at the most unimaginable thing she could have ever thought of seeing.
Before their eyes stood a giant tangled structure of wires, pipes, and cement that weaved and moved through air, acting as limbs to their master. It stood a few kilometers high, and had a base width that covered the whole roof. The students couldn't take their eyes off the monstrosity; it was so unbelievable. How could something like it exist? Who came up with that kind of madness?
Heterochromatic eyes widened as they spotted something shine at its head; two blue lights that acted as eyes, shining down on a personage sitting beneath them. A man with a coat and maroon-spiked hair sat on a throne of wires and steel, a manic smile teasing his lips apart as he looked down below, and sitting upon his head was some kind of headpiece - a white, spider-like helmet that clung to the back of his head. It was that man, the man the female had escaped the clutches of when she was in the main hall.
A metal manipulation quirk?
"That must be the villain in charge of this whole setup, I believe?" Todoroki muttered, eyeing the monster that stood in front of him.
"A metal manipulation quirk?" Bakugo eyed, squinting them as he did. "How fuckin' lame."
"I wouldn't agree with you there, Bakugo-kun..." Iida joined in. "This building is full of metal, and if his quirk really is a metal manipulating quirk, then we've been cornered in a bad situation." I take it that the cement pillar has some metal wires in it too, leaving him to control it as well."
That man is completely charged up, while we...Shizumi darted her panicking eyes to her friends, who were nothing but wounded and drained up from fighting drones and minions. We're at our limits.
Kyouka looked in disbelief between a dumb Kaminari resting on her shoulders and her class rep. "He can seriously do that?"
"I'm afraid so," Iida reminded, taking the situation at hand more important, and began to calm himself. Shizumi always did admire the boy; she wasn't exactly there when she heard that he, Midoriya, and Todoroki had fought against Stain, but ever since he had come out of that fight, he had become more reliable, a quality that not every hero had in her class, including herself. "Let's find Melissa and Midoriya-kun, that's our main priority!"
The group decided to stick together in the chaos, Shizumi, and Kyouka holding each other's hands in comfort, and quickly began to spot any hints of green or blonde hair. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw a flash of green and blonde at the center - wait, the center??
Following the pillars to the ground, her eyes landed on a sight that she didn't know whether to cry or puke over. Standing down in that mess of concrete and wires was the former Number One Hero in all his glory, however, steam erupted from his body, while blood trickled down the corner of his mouth.
All Might!!
She wanted to run over to him and heal him up, he was the symbol of peace, he was bleeding, he was perhaps the only hope this tower, island, and people had left. She began to think; if Mirko had come to this island instead, would this situation never have ended up this way? The girl barely even did anything except using a combo attack with Bakugo and dropping a fan onto some robots. How stupid can I be?
She wanted to do something, she wanted to save someone, she wanted to do something heroic for once today, and yet, there she stood, frozen in fear and disregarding herself for a few stupid actions. How pathetic. She was a hero, someone who should never give in, someone who had to save people, and yet here she was, being utterly useless.
