━━ chapter lxiii.

◆◇◇

Shizumi placed the last of her belongings in her school bag, letting it drop and settle before zipping it up. The zipper was the only sound that filled the room, breaking through it as a rake would through autumn leaves - so gentle, yet so loud.

October 1st.

Today, it had officially become October 1st.

Winter was approaching, slowly, and it had left Shizumi to let out a cold breath as she placed herself into a thick, red-shaded coat to bring herself warmth. She was getting discharged today, and was cleared to leave and go back to the dorms.

It was honestly an odd feeling, finally leaving the monotonous plain halls that had witnessed so much sadness; her wounds were covered up with a fresh set of bandages, and she was certainly feeling better than the day she woke up here, almost two weeks ago.

But those two weeks were utter hell. She visited all her classmates, of course, but she found herself unable to laugh again for real. Whenever she would even think of laughing, the picture of Nighteye's face came to her mind, and she was left frowning again.

The doctors had told her it would be better if she was to leave her injuries to recover naturally, and so she did leave them, wanting to recover her energy as fast as possible.

Breaking out a sigh, she picked up her school bag and slung it over her shoulders, ignoring the beep from her phone. It's probably the Bakusquad again, she thought, picking it out of her hands and putting the group on mute.

It's not that she found them annoying, they were just asking too many questions. About why she hadn't read the 15678 unred messages on that group, and why even though they PM'ed her, she only said "It's nothing."

Shizumi went down the hallways and to the elevator, pressing the ground floor button, and the moment she stepped out of the gates, she spotted Aizawa sitting in the resting area. He was watching the TV, and she saw what he was watching much more closely.

"The League of Villains had attacked the police bus that was transporting Overhaul-"

Tenko...

"Shizumi," The girl turned to her teacher as he called her name, and saw his serious look.

"Where are the others?"

"Midoriya is visiting Togata before he leaves, since he has an extra check-up to do," The redhead emotionlessly nodded, but Aizawa knew that look too well. It was the look Bakugo held after he was rescued. She looked like she had a lot to say, and a lot to feel, but she was bottling up all her emotions and concentrating them on one particular person he knew too well.

Melody.

"Shizumi," he got up, one hand sticking into the pocket of his pants, and another on her shoulder. "Sit down."

He held his glare at her and had his scary aura, and she did as told, taking a seat on that long row and bunch of metal seats. After she sat, Aizawa bent down and folded his knees forwards, letting his crimson eyes meet with her heterochromatic ones that had the soul sucked out of them.

She was mourning, and she was also angry.

"Shizumi," he brought his hand up to her hair, and began stroking it. "Why do you look so sad?"

Because I let them die. Because I did nothing. Because I was useless. Because I-

"You saved me."
