We're eating at a nearby diner, and I'm glad she went with me. And there she goes again with her cute eating manner. I want to strike a conversation, but I feel shy.

"Al, how old are you when you started singing?" She asked. Thank goodness it was her who started.

"I actually do not know. When I was young, I love listening to music, and I'm unaware that I'm already singing."

"I see."

"Jamie, can I tell you something?"

"Go on."

"I'm in love with someone, but she already has a boyfriend. Yeah, I like her a lot, but she's in a relationship." She might not know that I'm talking about her.

"Two things, Al. First, if you see her happy with him, you just have to be satisfied by loving her from a distance. However, if you see her unhappy with her boyfriend, you could tell her about your feelings, but you have to make sure that if she chooses you, she will be happier than ever."

"That is... something. Well, thanks for the advice."

"No problem."

I haven't seen her with her boyfriend yet, but with what she said, I guess I can only love her from afar.

"So, who is she?"

"What?"

"Who's the girl that you like?"

I cannot say that it's her. Why would I tell her? "Uhm... It's..." She's looking at me eye-to-eye, waiting for my answer. "Someone I knew from high school."

"Okay... that was years ago."

I need to change the topic before she interrogates me more. "Mm... Jamie, if I made it to the finals part, no, if I win the contest, I will sing in your wedding." That came out of nowhere.

She laughed. "Al, that's kinda funny. I'm not yet engaged, but I'll keep that in mind."

And I am such an idiot for making a torturous offer.

"By the way, will you be there on the second part of the contest?"

"Of course, until you win."
