Wheatley had never had a battle like this.
He kept swinging at his mother, using his crossbow and arm. His orange eyes glimmered with hate and determination.
Determination to win.
Both him and his mother were bleeding in the pouring rain. He was lucky he was in a jacket and that his tubes were more out of the way. "YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO WIN AGAIN!!" He yelled, his yell falling short as the crossbow was shot out of his hand.
"Oh really? Let me tell you a story about a scientist, son." Dr. Hanity growled. "A scientist and her daughter."
"18 years ago, before you were born, there was a young and thriving scientist. She was the top of her group, and the best scientist there. So naturally she rose to become head scientist of Ijetix. She met a handsome man named Dr. Wheatley Steven Standem, who loved her very much. You see, the thing that made her rise was the fact that she used a combination of emotions and none. They fell deeply in love, and eventually married, Dr. Standem becoming Dr. Hanity. Eventually, the two procreated, and gave birth to a tiny little girl. Her name was Caroline Gladys Hanity. Caroline loved running around and exploring, and she was very inquisitive. Sadly, her journey came to an end when a wendigo went feral and escaped. The scientist was heartbroken. 2 years later, however, she gave birth to a new son, her husband having passed from the capture of the same wendigo. To honor his late father, she named him Wheatley Steven Hanity Jr." Wheatley's eyes widened.
"Wait...the scientist is you?" He asked. Dr. Hanity scowled.
"I am not finished. As soon as he was born, she couldn't bare to see those orange eyes of his, so she placed him with the wendigo in hopes that he would become food. She saw he didn't and decided to then protect him, giving him robotics. However, when the evil wendigo tried to escape with her son, she tried to kill it, hoping her son would understand. He didn't, and so his mother had to do the hardest thing ever - give up her second chance. And as the years went by..." Was Dr. Hanity...crying? "She became insane..." Wheatley was taken aback.
"Mother...is this true?" She nodded, the tears more evident.
"Everything I did was to get you back, son. But no matter how hard I tried..." Dr. Hanity gave out a choked sob. "I always failed. Just like how I failed Caroline..." Wheatley was shocked. Not only did he have a sister and father that he never met, Dr. Hanity had been trying to get him back this whole time? And the cybernetics were to protect him? Wheatley smiled, beginning to cry himself.
"I'm glad you tried to redeem yourself, Mother. But you have done too many crimes for me to fully forgive you." He began to think for a bit, taking the new information into thought. "How about this? If you can try and make nice with the other leaders and change the way Ijetix does things, I'll let you have another chance. If not, I will kill you right now, right here." Wheatley said, holding his hand out. "Whaddya say....Mommy?" Dr. Gladys Hanity looked at his hand, and broke into tears.
"I will try...for you..." The two dropped their weapons, ran to each other, and hugged, Dr. Hanity shaking and sobbing. Rain peppered them as they finally renewed their relationship, happy they were able to give the other one final chance.
It ended as soon as Wheatley heard Nassa. His eyes shot open and he let go of her.
"Mother, do you have something I can use as an engagement ring?"
"Yes, the ring your father used for me." Dr. Hanity said, taking off one of her rings and giving it to him. "Why? You better not get yourself killed." Wheatley chuckled.
"Nah, I've done enough of that." He took the ring, running off. "It's time the story ended!!" He ran around the compound, soaking wet. "NASSA!! ALKIPPE!! NASSA, ALKIPPE- WOAH!!" A wendigo was wildly attacking everything in sight savagely and mercilessly. It paused for a moment, it's dull eyes looking at Wheatley... as if he were food. He knelt down. "Look, Nass, I'm okay...same to you Alkippe. I beat Dr. Hanity... you can calm down now." He said gently, holding his hand out for her to sniff, his mechanical one.
"RUN!" A flash of emotion crossed the wendigo, then it went back to how it was before. It growled, approaching Wheatley.
"No...you've never left my side, I'll do the same for you...just calm down..." He said, kneeling down. "I know you are stressed, upset, and nervous. Let me help." He held the ring behind him. The wendigo scratched the ground in what seemed like a pattern as it continued approaching. However, Wheatley couldn't see what the pattern was. He sighed. "Nassa. Alkippe. I need to tell you both a story. 18 years ago, before I was born, my mother met my dad. At the time, she was very kind, and merciful. She gave birth to her first child - my sister - a bit later, but she died thanks to your mother going feral. It wasn't Nyx's fault, she wasn't thinking right. 2 years later, after my dad died, I was born. She couldn't bear the thought of me cause I was so much like Caroline. So, she tried to feed me to Nyx. As you can see, it backfired. She saw this, and gave me cybernetics to protect me. She also tried to kill Nyx when she tried to run off with me. After she had to do the hardest thing in her life, which was to banish me, she went insane - completely emotionless and desperate. She tried to get me back. She failed every time. She's promised to make nice now with the other leaders." He took the ring out. "But this is not where the story ends. Far from it. Our lives are merely chapters in a book. And so, I wish to turn the next chapter in our lives." Wheatley held the ring out, a hopeful smile on his face. He had been wanting to do this, he just never found the right person. Nassa was it. "Nassa Alkippe Meridian, will you make the happiest man in the world...and marry me?" The wendigo froze up. Then it howled once more. He kept holding it out. "Please, Nassa, Alkippe? I need an answer..." Wheatley wasn't going to give up, not now.
The wendigo charged up to him, but instead of harming him, she hugged him. "Hurts..." Nassa and Alkippe weren't quite fully in control, but just enough to not harm him. He put the ring aside and hugged back.
"I know, my love. But you need to change back. I will help you." Wheatley stroked her head. "I promise. I will never leave your side, and if you want, we can get married and I'll never leave you alone again. Ever."
"Monster..." She mumbled fearfully, and guiltily. He looked at her.
"I dunno if ya noticed, but until someone truly knows the answer to what they don't know...we're all monsters." Wheatley smiled gently. "Look at me. Look at my mother. Look at Helo, Kaithenne, Aeris, Vize - we're all monsters at some point." He told her.
Her grip on Wheatly tightened. "... Sleep..."
He smiled. "Can ya at least answer my question and tell me if you're gonna accept my proposal or not, darling?" He asked. "Cmon, let me catch a break here."
"Always yes." He smiled, slipping the ring on her.
"I love you, Nassa and Alkippe. Now..."
"Let's go home."
