I took my time as I packed up my backpack, watching the rest of the students file out. Zipping up the bag, I stood up and headed to my locker to grab my books. I had tons of homework to complete for tomorrow. I guess that's what happens when your in high school and are way too dumb to complete it in class.

When I rounded the corner where my locker was located, I almost stopped. Standing at my locker was no other than Axel. Like yesterday, he was wearing all black. A black t-shirt, black cargo pants, and the same black jacket he wore the day before.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, as he moved out of the way so I could unlock my locker.

"Just making sure they don't try to do anything to you again, like they had planned yesterday." He replied, looking down at me.

I looked up at him almost in a trance. He was honestly perfect. No wonder lots of girls in our year asked him out.

"Oh..." I turned away from him and bent down to pick up a few of the books. "Well, Elijah's in the hospital."

"Wait what." Confusion and shock flashed across his face, but there was also something else there that I couldn't put my finger on. "What happened?"

I slammed my locker door closed and turned to face him. "Jessica said they found him at the bottom of the stairs, and they're not sure he's gonna wake up. Apparently he looked like a complete mess."

"Oh." He said darkly, looking away from me.

My brows furrowed in confusion at his reaction. "I should probably go, my parents are definitely gonna kill me if I'm late again." I said, trying to hide my confusion.

"Late? What do you mean? If you mean yesterday, you were definitely not late. Unless you went somewhere?" He raised a dark eyebrow.

"No I didn't." I stated quickly. "I went straight home, but they both work at night so they need the car." I looked away from him and at the few people that were passing us.

The girls in the group all giggled and fluttered their eyelashes at Axel as they walked by.

He either didn't see them or pretended to not see them as he continued talking to me. "That sucks. So you can't go anywhere after school?"

The butterflies that had emerged some time ago now flew in repeated circles. Had he basically asked me to hangout after school one day?

I tried to compose my nervousness as I answered him. "No. I can't. Unless I walk, but I live quite away from everything." I then looked down at my shoes. All the butterflies completely gone. "Sometimes I wish my parents would just disappear."

"Huh." He looked at me with pity.

I gave him a small smile, hoping it told him everything was alright. "I'll see you tomorrow, probably." Without another word, I passed him and headed towards the exit.

I hadn't bothered for a response back, which I now kind of regret. I probably seemed like a bitch walking away from him like that. At least you didn't stutter over any of your words or tripped or anything, I thought. (That would definitely been embarrassing)

Once in my car and driving to my house, I thought back to what Axel had said. The part where he asked if I was able to go anywhere after school. Had he wanted to hang out? With me?

I parked in the driveway and walked up the steps to the front door still thinking about Axel, (not slipping on my ass this time) and walked into the house.

"Thank god you're not late again, your father and I have an early meeting before our shift." My mother said, literally the second my foot entered the door.

She wore a pretty fancy top with expensive looking pants and shoes. Her hair was pulled tightly into a ponytail at the top of her head, and her face was covered in different makeup products.

"There's leftovers in the fridge if you get hungry." She held her hand out for the keys, which I immediately dropped into her hand. "William! I'll be in the car!" She yelled up the stairs to my father. Without another word to me, she walked out the door.

I then had to quickly jump out of the way as my father barreled his way past me and out the door, leaving me behind and quite alone.

Both of my parents weren't going to be back until at least three or four in the morning. That's why they always sleep in during the day.

Sighing, I closed the door and walked up the stairs to my room. I threw my bag onto my bed before heading back downstairs to the kitchen to eat some of the leftovers I was promised.

The smell of the pasta in the microwave made my mouth water as I waited impatiently with a fork in my hand, staring at my plate of food spin around and around. A minute later, I'm shoveling the burning food into my mouth.

That evening was very quiet. My parents usually don't start work until seven, but due to the meeting it felt weird having the house completely to myself.

I worked on my homework and some of the drawings in my sketchbook. After a while I got tired and decided to go to bed early. It was only 8:16 when I slipped under the covers in my pajamas.

I stared up at the ceiling with a smile on my face.

I was going to see Axel tomorrow.
