AS DANIEL WANDERED IN the apartment, he began to walk passed the girl's bedroom until he stopped the second he heard tiny sniffles from the other side.

knocking on the door gently before he entered, he was glad he did check on her because he saw how hurt she was. "pretty girl, what happened?"

"you were right, dani. the fans- they hate me." sage whimpered, leaning into his chest as tears slowly slipped down her cheeks.

"sage, what happened?"

"my last post- they all attacked me. i told someone who left a hate compliment that it motivated me to see them but now it's too much. there's over a thousand replies with just pure hate aimed at every part of me."

"sweetheart." he sighed, kissing her hairline as he sat down behind her on her bed.

"i just don't get why they hate me so much. i haven't done anything wrong."

"i know. listen, i'll fix it- okay?"

"how so? i don't want your fans to be upset-"

"i'll figure something out, okay? you're my roommate and basically my best friend and the only girl i care about currently. i'm never letting you get put down by my fandom- not if i can't help it."

"you don't need to defend me, dan. i'm trying my best here and sure, it's hate but i'll get over it eventually."

"sweetheart, i don't want you to go through any of this. you're beautiful, you make me smile, you're too kind and generous for the world. they don't deserve you."

she smiled softly, a stray tear rolling down her cheek as a small smile rested on her face as she moved a bit so her head was now in his lap, smiling up at the boy who only smiling wearily back.

he felt guilty, for all the hate she was receiving. sure, she had to have dealt with hate before, but this wasn't just because of her personal haters- it was his fandom hating on a girl he cared for.
