It had been five days since Armin and I had last talked. I was starting to think that my offer had looked like a pity party to him and that I was being too pushy. I felt as if my empathetic efforts were useless. I thought that it was stupid of me to think that said proposal would change anything between the two of us. It was 3:30 pm, meaning that it was an hour into free time. Free time occurred between lunch and dinner. Usually, during this time, I would have been sleeping but for the past week, I had kept myself awake in case Armin had decided to come over. However, I now figured that there was likely no point in further depriving myself of sleep. I walked over to my bed which was located on the bottom left bunk, right beside the door and window of my cabin. My cabin was made of wood and the interior was very minimalistic. There were 2 sets of bunk beds against the left wall, a couch and dresser facing the door, and a small night table with a lantern on it, to the left of my bunk. At the time, I thought that most cabins were arranged in this way.

I got into bed, pulled up my covers, and snuggled into my little 'habitat'. I soaked in the wonderful silence. Everything was still and that I liked. I really did. I heard some leaves crunching outside my open window and immediately assumed that it was probably some small forest animal. I then thought about it a bit, realizing that the kinds of animals nearby probably couldn't have made that loud of crunching noise. I suddenly heard the creaking of the stairs outside my door, ascending to the porch. I then realized that it was not a what, but a who. I began to feel anxious until a knocking sound on my door startled me out of my internal frenzy. I got up out of bed and walked over to the door. Taking a firm grasp of the knob, I turned it right and swung the door open, to where I saw a blond boy walking back down my steps.

"Armin?" I called out. The boy turned around quickly and looked at me, obviously surprised. It was indeed Armin. "Oh, Y/N. Sorry, I came. Um, a while ago you said that uh... well Eren has been cruelly loud lately and... I can't do this" he said with a frustrated tone. He covered his face with a clenched fist, looking quite frazzled. There was no need for such a feeling. "Armin, come in. You're always welcome here," I told him sweetly. Armin kept his head down and walked up the stairs, stopped before my doorway, and shyly looked at me from beneath his bangs.

"You can come in, Armin. You don't need an invite," I giggled.

"O-Oh, ok. I'm sorry, I didn't know. I just thought- okay."

He stepped inside and looked around the room. I noticed that he had brought a book with him. It was an old-looking book with a leather hem. His curious eyes scanned every inch and corner of the room. "Your cabin is so different. My cabin doesn't look like this whatsoever. Do all of the girl's cabins look like this inside?" he finally asked. "I'm not sure, to be honest. I thought that all of the cabins looked like mine but I guess not. Maybe I got an outdated version," I replied awkwardly.

"Oh, okay. You have a lot in here for one person. Are you sure it's just you?" he asked, noticing all of my luggage. By luggage, I mean heaps of clothes and other necessities. I was surprised he didn't realize that really none of it was from his time. He smiled at me, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah, indeed it is. I just have a lot of stuff from home. My dad made me pack pretty much the whole house with me". Armin giggled in response. "Wow, Y/N. There's a lot of interesting stuff in here," he told me in amazement. Of course, he was intrigued, though, he was looking at modernized clothes, technology, and well, just everything I had brought from the future. His curiosity was cute and I admired this about him. The way his eyes sparkled and glistened in awe was truly mesmerizing. Too bad I was never able to replicate the same thing. I guess I just lacked that level of nativity and innocence.

"Oh yeah", he said as he ran back over to the cabin door and took off his shoes. He politely placed them beneath the window. Once he finished, I gestured him the whole room. "Make yourself at home. Sit wherever you would like," I told him. "Uh, okay," he mumbled back. I walked over towards the old green couch near the back wall of the room and threw my fuzzy pink blanket over my back. Armin, still standing in the middle of the room, awaited instructions. "You can sit on my bed over there. It's quite comfortable."

"Really? Alright." He sat down and gasped. "Why is your bed so squishy?" he wildly exclaimed. "It's a memory foam mattress," I replied easily. "Foam? What's a memory foam?" he asked. I had forgotten that I was in the past and that inventions like memory foam, did not exist yet. "Never mind it. It was just a creative idea that someone made. It keeps the shape of the person on it so that it's more comfortable to lay on. My dad bought it for me," I answered. "Mmm," he purred sweetly as he played around with the flexibility of the mattress.

Finally, he cautiously got comfortable on the bed and propped a pillow up behind his back. I sat on the couch quietly and watched as he quickly sunk into the depths of his book. What a beautiful boy.
