We were on the expedition and it was freezing. It was our winter expedition practice with the Military Police and we were hiking through some mountains. We'd been walking for hours, so it was probably around midnight. The snow had been falling all day and night so we had to trudge through an enormous amount of it. I was so cold. I turned to see Armin walking slowly to my left. His nose was bright red and his teeth were chattering. I wrapped an arm around his back. "Y/N, I-I... I'm s-s-so cold," he muttered through the storm. "S-Same. We can warm up when we get to the c-cabin," I replied. He pointed up towards the dark clouds in the sky. We were traveling at night so it was hard to see above them.

"We s-still have to go all the way up th-there," he said. I gave him a pity smile. Although I really couldn't feel my face, so who knew what I looked like.

"We're getting to a narrow path! Careful! Walk in a single file line or you'll fall!" one of the Military Police commanders hollered from somewhere far ahead of us. I looked up. It was getting narrower. I held onto Armin's arm and looked down at the dark, rocky drop. Armin took my bag.

"You don't have to carry–"

"No, please. I don't want anything else weighing you down closer to the edge," he insisted. Fair enough. I couldn't argue with that. I let him carry it, albeit it was really too kind of him. I appreciated that he cared about my wellbeing, even to that extreme of an extent. The further we walked, the more the path caved in on us. Soon enough, we were walking on the edge. "Y/N, switch spots with me," Armin demanded.

"Why? Then you'd be on the cliffside?"

"Y-Yeah, I'd rather myself f-fall off than you. Just s-switch, p-please," he begged.

"Only if you hold onto my arm. I don't want you falling either."

"Fine."

I started awkwardly trying to walk around his side but it didn't work. My foot started to slip. "Y/N, be careful!" he yelled. "I am, it's fine," I assured him, as I took another step. But I didn't actually take another step, because there wasn't anything supporting my foot. So before I'd even realized it, I fell. "Y/N!" Armin cried as he reached out to me. He was too late. I plummeted down to what was thought to be my death. It was seriously as people would describe it as. Your life flashes before your eyes. I remembered everything, even from my earliest moments in life. I was freefalling. My arms and legs frantically tried running back up towards the group but, of course, due to gravity, it wouldn't work. I accelerated down the mountainside, not even being able to see the group anymore, because of the snowstorm. I yelled out for Armin but it was too late. I didn't have any regrets. I really enjoyed being with him and I felt terrible for leaving things off how they were. I really wished we could have said goodbye properly. I loved him.

Armin fell to his knees and yelled my name from up above. Eventually, some members of the Military Police approached him. "S-She... s-she f-fell. We have to go get her!" he wailed.

"She's probably dead. There's no possible way anyone could survive that. What was her name? We need her information so we can report it to the Commander of your group and divide her supplies among the rest of the troops," one of the MPs said. "She could be alive! Are you out of your f-fucking minds? S-She probably landed on a pathway below? We have to go, please, I'll do anything!" he screamed. Armin had never felt so angry in his life. He felt like it was his fault. The MPs looked at each other, then one spoke.

"Go down with him. Just check."

"Fine."

Armin smiled, with tears still spewing from his eyes, and got up. He ran down through the snowy paths. "Y/N... I'll find you. I know you're alive. You had the bracelet. You swore you wouldn't leave me," he said to himself.
