This story is based on the song Trampoline by NeverShoutNever. It's just a cute song that I was listening to last night, so I decided to write a short little story based on it 'cause why not?
---
Chan invited me over to his house for a little bit. He said that he just wanted to hang out, and I had nothing to do that day, so I agreed. I found myself standing outside the front door, waiting for him to open it. I would be lying to myself if I said I didn't have the biggest crush on Chan. There was just something about him. He was always so loving and caring, and he was always there for me when I needed him, especially with my past relationships that weren't exactly the safest.
He opened the door and let me in, closing it behind me.
"Let's go to my room," he suggested and began running down the hallway that led to his bedroom. I knew where it was since I'd been to his house many times before, but I let him lead me anyways.
"So, what'd you want to do?" I asked as I sat on his bed, watching him sit in his desk chair, spinning it to look at me.
He bounced his head side to side, thinking over the available options for us to do. There wasn't a lot to do that we both enjoyed doing. Not that we were opposites, but we both had a very selective view of what was fun, and this area in the city didn't really support that view.
"We can just go hang on the trampoline," he shrugged. "Maybe play a few games, just fuck around."
"Sure," I smiled.
Chan had a trampoline in his backyard from when he was a kid. His parents never got rid of it since he never stopped using it. There were times where it seemed like he was done with it, but when his parents talked about getting rid of it, he would beg them not to. He loved that thing. It was kind of small since they bought it for him when he was only about eight, but it still fit both of us on it now.
I stood up and followed him outside to the lanai and out into the backyard. He climbed on the ledge to unzip the opening and crawled in. I began to climb up myself, but as soon as I was about to enter, he closed the zip, teasing me with a laugh.
"You do know there's a zipper on this side as well, right? I can open it myself."
I grabbed the outside zipper and began to tug at it, trying to open the net, but Chan's grip on the other side was surprisingly firm. "Let me in!" I began to shake the zipper out of annoyance. He laughed once more before opening it back up.
I finally got in with a sigh and sat down next to him. "So, now what?"
"Hm... we can play popcorn."
"Sure. Though, it'd be more fun if the others were here," I pouted but stood up anyway, allowing Chan to be the first "popcorn kernel."
"We can invite them if you want to."
"No, it's fine. We can still play just us," I replied quickly, hopefully not too quickly. I wanted it to be just us. I liked being with him alone without our idiot friends interrupting every single moment we potentially had.
"Okay. I'm ready," Chan grunted as he balled himself up in the center of the trampoline waiting to be popped. He had his arms wrapped around his knees which were brought to his chest.
I counted to three before I started aggressively jumping all around him, trying to make him fall apart and open up. I thought I was doing reasonably well since I got him to fall onto his side, but he was still wrapped around himself. He looked like he was struggling to stay together, though, so I decided to get a little closer to him and jump as hard as I could.
It was going well. I could see his grip on his legs loosening up as he yelled, trying to stop the slipping. I smiled, seeing that my plan was working. As I continued to bounce, one of his arms came off, flopping to the side of his body. I carefully avoided it, not wanting to break his arm from jumping on it.
He kept rolling around the trampoline, causing me to have to jump over him occasionally. There were a couple times I didn't prepare myself properly since I didn't have time and my knees almost buckled underneath me when I landed, but I was able to catch myself in time.
"Come on! Give up! You know you want to!" I yelled, not making much progress any longer.
"Never!" He yelled in response with a laugh following. He was so cute. Even when he tried to be assertive, he'd always giggle after, ruining his strong-man façade.
He rolled once again to the side of the trampoline adjacent to me, so I began to make my way over there. I made one final jump, but then it hit. I felt it as my knees gave out underneath me, and I began falling, unable to stop myself this time.
I fell down, my knees landing on the mesh, definitely leaving a rash, but my torso ended up falling onto Chan's knees, slightly knocking the wind out of me for a little bit. He quickly unraveled himself from his balled-up self to check on me.
He pushed me over onto my back as I struggled to breathe. I could take shallow breaths, but nothing more. I thought I was going to die, but after a minute or so, I was fine. I could breathe normally, so I sat up, clutching my chest as my heartbeat rapidly. My nervous system was still haywire from seemingly almost dying.
Chan grabbed onto my shoulders, his eyes moving quickly between my own, checking for any sign of pain. I smiled a little, finding him adorable.
He pulled me into a tight embrace, making me slightly groan. "Chan, I can't... I can't breathe."
He didn't let go but loosened his grip slightly. He moved his head, and before I could process anything that was happening, I felt his lips on my cheek for a split second. They were quickly removed, and it seemed that he didn't even realize that he had done it. I felt myself start to blush, and I became giddy, but I tried to hide my reaction as best as I could.
He let go of me, his hands still lingering on my arms. "Are you okay?"
I tried to suppress my smile caused by his previous action and tried to play it off as me mocking him for caring so much. "Yes, I'm fine now," I laughed.
"Good..." he started, then looked down at the ground like he was thinking. "Maybe the trampoline is too dangerous. We should go back inside."
I laughed again and nodded in agreement. "Okay."
