The Last I Love you

Today was the signing of the Sokovia Accords. Katherine was on edge; she did not really know what to expect. Zemo was in Vienna impersonating Bucky. While she remained in Romania until the news surfaced of the Winter Soldier attacking the UN. She kept her phone close just in case something went wrong or Zemo was caught.

Katherine was currently at her job; it was a mere distraction. Today was, in fact, her last day; after this, she would be in Berlin. Looking out into the crowd of people walking in the city, she noticed someone running frantically.

It was Bucky, he was running towards her. He managed to bump into a few people before he made it to the fruit stand. Katherine looks at him with concern. Bucky hunched over a bit to catch his breath. Katherine did not say anything. She figured it had to do with something with the bombing of the UN.

"Can I talk to you?" said Bucky. His face was covered in fear and urgency. She could tell he was nervous. He kept looking around as if any second someone would take him away. The hat on his head was pushed down enough to cover his eyes from most people.

Katherine nodded at his question. Looking around, Katherine spotted her manager. Speaking to her, she said, "I'm gonna take a break." Her manager simply said okay back and nodded. Walking away from the register. She followed Bucky behind the fruit stand. His eyes kept going everywhere.

"You trust me? Right?" he said. Katherine trusted him to be her puppet. To believe the lies that she told him. All her trust was in how easy it was to use him, to manipulate him. Bucky was looking for validation. He wanted Katherine to be with him.

"Of course I do, Bucky," she said in a pleading tone. Her eyes scanned his face for some hit to what he was planning on doing. "What is this about?" she asked.

Bucky grabbed both of her hands, holding them tightly. Katherine's eyes went to their hands together. Then, back to him. Never has she been scared or worried to be around Bucky. But, at this moment, she has never seen this side of him. The side that was scared and ready to run.

Looking deep into Katherine's eyes, Bucky said, "I...I have to leave Romania." He was almost ashamed to say it. Bucky never thought he would fall in love with someone here. In fact, he never thought after Hydra, he would be able to love someone. However, here he was, holding onto the person he loved most, Katherine.

Everything was happening so fast for him. He probably should leave the instant he saw his face in the newspaper. Winter Soldier Bombed Signing of the Sokovia Accords, it read. Instead of running, his first thought was Katherine. If she saw the article, would he even be able to explain? None of it mattered; he ran to her. In hopes it was not too late. Bucky ran to her in hopes of taking her with him. So that they could be together. Even if it sounded crazy, he was going to try. Because he loved her.

Katherine did not say anything. She did not understand why he came here to tell her instead of running. From his words alone, she knew he saw that he was being framed for the bombing. But, why didn't he run, she thought?

"And...I want you to come with me."

She froze. It made sense now. Bucky came here to have her run away with him. Katherine just looked at him in shock. Fuck, he really does love me, she thought. Guilt had consumed her; she felt responsible for everything Bucky is going through. Throughout the day, Katherine prepared herself to never see Bucky again. But, he came here to take her away. This she was not prepared for. It would have been easier he had just left.

Noticing Katherine was too shocked to say anything, Bucky said, "Once we get out of the country, I promise I will explain everything to you...everything" Holding her hands tighter, he hoped she would agree. Even if it was an insane thing to do.
