"I'm gonna take a look around upstairs. See what you can find out here. And keep an eye on them." said Sam to Bucky.
The four of them were currently in a GRC Resettlement Camp. This place was sad. There were kids without parents. It was clear that there was a lack of funding or resources. This then put the camp into a more complex situation. Katherine could see the pain on their faces.
"Don't worry we'll stay out of your way." said Zemo to Bucky.
Bucky just kept a stern glare on Zemo. There he goes again with the staring. Zemo always knew what to say to annoy Bucky. Honestly, to Katherine, it was funny.
"Cool it, bionic man." said Katherine.
Now Bucky was fed up with the both of them. Walking away from them, he left Katherine and Zemo. In front of them was a group of kids. They were just playing and being kids. Katherine wished she could live without knowing what the world was really capable of. She wondered if they knew or understood what happened to them.
"You know they won't get answers." said Zemo.
"I know, their faces are to recognizable."
Bucky and Sam were associated with the Avengers. The very people who put these people here. The Avengers may have brought half of the world back but displaced what was. Now people are being forced out of homes, countries, and jobs because of them. They may think it was their job, but Katherine thinks it was more selfish than anything. None of them could live with their failure.
Looking at the kids playing, Katherine got an idea. If Sam and Bucky were to be unsuccessful in finding information on Donya. Then, Katherine and Zemo would do it for them.
"Remember when you would sing me Baa Baa Black Sheep when I was a kid?" she said with a smile.
Zemo would sing to Katherine as a kid. Baa Baa Black Sheep was one of her favorite songs. Usually, kids would get told a story, read to, but Katherine loved when her father sang. So much so that Carl even developed the liking as well.
"Yeah, I do." responded Zemo.
He understood what she was saying. Walking forward, he pulled out a brown bag. Katherine followed behind him. Reaching into the bag, he pulled out a Turkish Delight.
"When was the last time you had one of these?"
Katherine smiled at the sight of the candy. Zemo tossed the piece to her. Immediately, she opened it and devoured it. It had been years since she had one. The last time she could remember was when Carl was still alive. Every time Katherine would return from university. She would grab a big bag of them. And she and Carl would eat them together in secret.
"Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any wool? Yes, sir, yes sir, three bags full. One for my master, one for the dame. One for the little girl who lives down the lane."
Zemo pulled the attention of the kids. They circled near him, listening to him sing. Then, grabbing a chair, he placed it in the middle. He then poured all of the candies out on the chair. The kids were hesitant; they did not know this man. Katherine could tell.
"Turkish Delight." said Zemo.
Seeing as the kids still did not fully trust her father, Katherine stepped in.
"It was always my brothers and I's favorite."
The little girl with long wavy hair was the first to grab one. She looked between Zemo and Katherine. Katherine made sure to give a reassuring smile to her.
"My old friend, Donya, passed away. Did you know her?" said Zemo.
You had to be subtle in this kind of thing. One just cannot go around asking about Donya, especially to adults. They remember people. In this case, the best approach was to younger kids. They could be bribed with treats, money, or food. Most importantly, you had to make it personal.
