Part 5: Love in the Moonlit Darkness – Us Against Them

As time moved on, Barbs and I became super close over the next couple of months. We were constantly together, as much as we could be with his busy schedule. Luckily Diavolo was nice enough to tell Barbatos to take time away to be with me. Getting closer to Barbs, I also grew closer to the brothers, who in turn became a family to me. The brothers even welcomed Barbatos in; they saw how happy I was and were very supportive which made me feel very loved.

Over time, our bond grew. I felt protected and cared for by Barbatos. He was always so genuine with me that it was honestly shocking. I had never been cared for so much. When everything that happened between Belphie and me occurred, Barbatos was extremely protective.

A/N: this flashback has SPOILERS for Lessons 15-18, please read at your own discretion. You can also skip the flashback and just know that as of now, Belphie is officially in the story.

*****Flashback*****

After explaining to Belphie what happened to Lillith and Diavolo confirming my relation to the subject, Belphie felt extremely guilty. Of course, it probably didn't help that Barbatos was staring daggers in his direction.

"Belphegor," Barbatos began, walking over to me, pulling me into his side.

"Barbatos, please forgive him. He-" Lucifer began, but was cut off by Barbatos raising his hand to pause him. I widened my eyes in shock at him and clenched onto his arm, hoping to assure him that I was okay.

"I want you to know that if you ever lay a hand on Y/N again, without her permission, I will personally assure you that you'll wish you were being sent to castle dungeons instead of what I'll have planned." There was determination in his voice and anger in his eyes.

Belphie didn't say anything to Barbatos. He simply nodded and moved to stand next to Beel. The room went silent and tense. Trying to break the tension, I let go of Barbs and moved to the center of the room. "So..." I began, "How about that weather?" I chuckled. This was enough to get people to ease up and start laughing. Eventually, we all went our own ways.

I walked with Diavolo and Barbatos to the door. Diavolo gave us a moment of privacy and began to head to the house gates.

"You okay?" I asked.

"If anyone does anything to hurt you Y/N, I don't know what I would do." He looked somber.

"I get it, I don't want to lose you either. But we are together, and I am yours. So maybe... don't threaten to kill my friends' brother?" I said while chuckling.

"I wouldn't kill him... immediately," Barbatos responded while laughing.

I playfully hit his arm. "Go before Diavolo leaves you here. I'll see you soon."

"See you soon my sweet," he responded before turning to leave. I had no doubt that Barbatos would go to the ends of the world for me, and I would do the same for him.

On a normal day, I would walk to school with the brothers and would be greeted with his smile at the school's entrance. He and I would then head over towards Diavolo's office until it was time to head to classes. Typically, we would keep any PDA to a minimum, especially at RAD. Both Barbatos and I respected our privacy and to be honest, I was kind of worried about how the other students would react to me dating a demon.
