Happy Birthday, Lucifer!

3rd Person POV

June 6th was Lucifer's birthday. It was a day that should be celebrated, but no one seemed to remember the day, not even the birthday boy himself. Y/N was confused; they all celebrated each other's birthday. In fact, they had just celebrated Asmo's birthday a couple of weeks prior. So, how was no one aware of Lucifer's birthday?

As Y/N made their way down the hall of the House of Lamentation with a gift bag in hand, they pondered how to approach Lucifer. He had been busy working on a project with Diavolo that he had barely been home recently, except for to occasionally grab fresh clothes. Today happened to be a day that he was actually home. The only downside was that he had locked himself in his study since the night before.

As such Y/N thought that maybe if they came bearing good intent, Lucifer wouldn't think they were one of his "troublesome brothers." Y/N headed to the kitchen to make Lucifer's favorite dish and a birthday dessert. Luckily, Beel was out at Hell's Kitchen so there was no need to worry about him trying to sneak into the kitchen to "taste" the food. As Y/N finished up cooking food for the both of them, they received a text from the birthday boy himself.

Lucifer: 'Y/N, care to accompany me to the music room?

Hearing the Cursed Lovers duet gave me an insatiable urge to see you.

I'd love to play it for you, but the recording isn't safe for human ears.

I shall make a benign copy for you to listen.'

Y/N looked at their phone and smiled. They were getting ready to head to Lucifer's study to surprise him with his birthday meal. Quickly they grabbed their phone and responded.

Y/N: 'I'd like to see you, too.'

Lucifer: 'Then make haste and come to me.

Tonight shall be a special evening for the both of us.'

Putting their phone back in their pocket, they grabbed the food, Lucifer's gift, and some demonus and made their way to the music room.

Y/N POV

I got to the music room but the door was shut. Using my foot, I gently kicked on the door to signal I was there. After a few moments, Lucifer opened the door. He smiled as he began to greet me but then his eyes widened slightly when he realized everything I was carrying.

"Hello Y/N. What is all this?" he inquired.

"Happy Birthday!" I cheered. I hoped he was okay with being surprised like this.

Lucifer laughed as he opened the door more. Grabbing the tray of food, he invited me in and we set up the food and demonus.

"Is this what I think it is?" Lucifer asked.

"Yep, I made your favorite dish. I also made you a birthday cake. I hope you like it!"

"That is very sweet of you. Thank you for thinking of me Y/N," Lucifer said.

"Of course! Oh," I said grabbing his gift bag and handing it to him, "Happy Birthday! I hope you like it!"

Lucifer opened the bag and pulled out a collection of vinyl records. "These are artists that I do not recognize."

I looked away nervously. "Yeah. Remember how we spoke about music from the human world?" I asked. He nodded. "Well, these are some of my favorite artists from the human realm as well as some other classics that I've heard great things about. I really hope you like them."

Lucifer took a moment to look through the various pieces of vinyl before speaking, "These are great. Thank you Y/N."

"I'm glad you like them. I was hoping you would!" I said chuckling slightly from relief.

"I'm happy you thought of me and am grateful you gave me a gift with such thought put into it. Would you like to listen to one of these or the Cursed Lovers duet?" he asked getting up and walking to the record player.

"The Cursed Lovers duet. We can listen to the other one's another time." I responded.

"It's a date then," Lucifer said smiling while I blushed in response.

Looking down at the food, I sat the two plates in front of us on the coffee table and grabbed two glasses while Lucifer grabbed the demonus and opened it. He poured us each a glass and took a seat next to me. We ate together while listening to the beautiful melody of the Cursed Lovers duet. After a while, my curiosity got the better of me.

Leaning closer to Lucifer I asked, "So Lucifer, why didn't anyone else seem to acknowledge your birthday?"

He chuckled and smirked at me. "They messaged me. I told them that I did not want to be disturbed today and that we could celebrate tomorrow." Lucifer leaned down a grabbed our glasses and handing me mine he slowly held his glass up in the air. "I wanted to take some time to relax after working on Diavolo's latest project. That's the reason I texted you. I enjoy being in your presence, Y/N. You calm me and every time we spend time together I never want it to end."

"Ah, I see. I'm happy you messaged me. I really enjoy spending time with you too!" I said. I raised my glass closer to Lucifer's. "Happy Birthday Lucifer! I hope you've enjoyed your day and continue to enjoy all your birthdays to come."

Lucifer clinked his glass with mine. "Thank you Y/N. Here's to our wonderful evening together. Thank you for spending my birthday with me."

We spent the rest of the evening listening to the Cursed Lovers record together while sipping on demonus and enjoying our food. We cuddled the night away listening to beautiful music and enjoying each other's company.
