Love in the Moonlit Darkness Part 7 - Keep Your Promise

3rd Person POV

After Barbatos left the room, the air felt thick with tension. Everyone shuffled their weight on their feet feeling lost in the confusion. Lucifer cleared his throat, breaking the silence.

"My Lord, what did Barbatos mean by 'keep your word?'"

Diavolo sighed. "Quite frankly, I'm not sure how I will be able to do it. I am asking for your support. I have told Barbatos that I will do whatever it takes to get the realms to agree to allow Y/N to live here permanently."

The brothers stood in shock.

"Can this really be done?" Satan inquired.

"I'm not sure, to be honest. When I met with the Celestial Realm representatives the first time, the only way they agreed to the exchange program in the first place was the fact that all members return home, no matter what. It was designed to protect the human population most of all. I agreed because I wanted us to at least have the opportunity to get to know each other." Diavolo explained.

"And now Y/N has been forced to leave even though she doesn't want to after falling in love with Barbatos because of this agreement?" Lucifer asked.

"Unfortunately, yes. As you all know, there are still some demons who do not like the idea of the realms intermingling." Diavolo began; the brothers nodded in response. "The same can be said for individuals from other realms. It was the worry, collectively, of the realms that should this exchange not go well, the humans would be most at risk. Me simply assuring their safety was not enough; I had to agree to send them back at the end of the year. I never would have agreed if I had known this would transpire, I would have negotiated more," Diavolo sat down at the council table, his head resting in his hand; he looked dejected.

"So we bring her back!" Mammon exclaimed. Everyone looked at him in response.

"Technically, we sent her back and the exchange program came to an end," Satan mused. "Could we not bring her back now anyways?"

Diavolo shook his head. "I don't think it would be that simple. The other realms were very adamant. I will not risk the safety of Devildom by bringing Y/N back. Not without negotiating first. I cannot risk violence from the other realms."

"So, if we were to bring Y/N back right now, it would cause a war to break out?" Beel asked worriedly. The other brothers looked at each other.

Diavolo shook his head. "I will not allow that to happen. I will continue to negotiate with them."

"We will help in any way possible, Lord Diavolo," Lucifer said; the other brothers nodded in agreement. When it came to Y/N, they would all do whatever it took.

"Good, then I'll need to speak with Simeon soon," Diavolo responded.

With a singular goal in mind, they all came together to form a plan to contact other realm's representatives and try to figure out how to negotiate for Y/N's returns.

Barbatos POV

Leaving the student council room, I made my way to the castle. Entering the castle grounds, I made my way to my room. After I closed the door I began pacing, looking. I was looking for ways to get Y/N back to Devildom without creating greater conflict. The more I looked, the faster my heart raced. My blood pumped through my veins thick with anxiety as I couldn't find a solution that didn't end with either war or Y/N returning to me towards the end of her life.
