Luke X GN Reader - Pumpkin Carving

Y/N POV

I approached Purgatory Hall with excitement. I had a surprise planned for Luke and couldn't wait to see his reaction. When I got to the door, I set my stuff down and knocked on the door. After some moments of waiting, Simeon answered the door.

"Hello, Y/N. It's good to see you," he smiled.

I smiled back. "Hey, Simeon! It's good to see you too! Can you give me a hand? The pumpkins are heavy."

Simeon nodded, grabbing one of the pumpkins. He led me into the dining room and helped me set up the decorating zone. We laid out newspaper and the carving tools on the table before setting the pumpkins down. After a few minutes, I heard bouncing footsteps come down the stairs.

"Y/N, what are those?" I heard a chipper voice ask me.

I turned to see Luke looking at me with stars in his eyes. I smiled at his eagerness. "I got some pumpkins to carve. Would you like to carve one with me?" I asked.

Luke began bouncing with excitement. "Waahhh!!! Yeah! I would love to do that! How do we carve pumpkins?" he asked.

I smiled and motioned for Luke to follow me to the dining room table. "Follow me. We have the pumpkins down on these newspapers so we don't make a big mess. First, we'll decide what to carve. Here look at this book of stencils and pick out the one you like," I said, handing him a book of carving stencils.

I watched as Luke flipped through the pages eagerly. He stopped on a page with a smiling jack-o-lantern stencil and pointed at the page. "Ooh Y/N, can I use this one?" he asked excitedly.

"Of course," I said.

Simeon chuckled. "You two have fun. I'll get some lunch ready for us," he said before walking into the kitchen.

"Thanks, Simeon!" Luke and I said in unison.

"Alright Luke, let's take this page out and we will tape it to the pumpkin. Which pumpkin do you want?" I asked.

Luke looked at the pumpkins before picking the one he liked best. I helped him to prepare the pumpkins by cutting a hole on top of the pumpkin and letting him take the seeds and flesh of the pumpkin out. I laughed at the faces Luke made. He wrinkled his nose as he cleaned the pumpkin out and threw away the seeds. At the same time, I prepared my own pumpkin. Once we were both done cleaning out our pumpkins, we taped the stencils on.

"What now, Y/N?" Luke asked excitedly.

"Now we take these tools and begin carving," I said, pointing to the various carving tools. "Start with this one," I said handing him a toothpick-looking object. "Use it to poke holes in your pumpkin along the lines of the stencil. When you are done with that, we can switch over to some of the carving tools."

Luke nodded. "Alright, Y/N! I'll do my best."

I smiled in response. "I'm here to help if you need it."

We continued to work, poking holes in our pumpkins. After some time, you could clearly see the outlines of our designs. We then switched to different tools.

"Okay Luke, please be careful," I began, handing Luke a carving knife. "This is very sharp. I don't want you to get hurt."

Luke nodded as he listened. "Okay Y/N. I promise I'll be careful."

We took the carving knives and began to slowly and carefully carve out our designs. After a good amount of time, we finished our carvings. Smiling, I looked at Luke's design.

"Luke, your pumpkin looks really cute!" I said.

"Thanks Y/N! I like yours too!" he cheered.

"Okay, are you ready for the best part?" I asked.

Luke looked at me confused. Curiously, he watched as I set a candle inside both of our pumpkins and lit them before closing the tops. Standing up, I walked over to the light switch and turned off the dining room light. Our designs were illuminated and looked very festive.

Luke jumped up and down. "Y/N!! Our pumpkins look so cute!" he said as he hugged me tightly.

I chuckled at his response, hugging him back. "I'm glad you like it. Did you have fun?"

He shook his head. "So much fun! Thanks for letting me do this Y/N!"

"Absolutely. Now, let's clean up. Simeon will probably be done with lunch soon. We can show him our pumpkins then!"

Luke nodded before going to clean up. Turning the light back on, we both picked up our trash and the tools. We made our way to the kitchen, surprising Simeon.

"Our you both done carving?" he asked.

Luke lit up. "Yeah! I can't wait for you to see my pumpkin, Simeon. It looks so cool!" he cheered.

Simeon smiled while nodding. "I'm excited to see them. You can set the tools in the sink. I'll wash them after lunch."

"Thanks Simeon!" I said happily.

"Of course," he replied.

We set our tools down and threw our trash away before helping Simeon set up for lunch. Once we were done, we grabbed our food and made our way to the dining room table. Simeon looked at our pumpkins and smiled.

"These look very cute," Simeon complemented.

"Right?" I agreed. "It's very festive for the season."

"Y/N, can we carve more pumpkins?" Luke asked enthusiastically.

I laughed. "Sure, but let's wait until closer to Halloween."
