You Deserve Better, You Always Have

Simeon POV

Once the final class of school ended, I made my way to find my little lamb, Y/N. Knowing them, they were bounding about campus, wandering aimlessly through the courtyard. As I made my way out of the school building, my eyes scanned for Y/N, yearning to see their bright smile, feel their warm embrace, and stare lovingly into their eager, curious gaze.

After searching for countless minutes, my brow furrowed with worry as my heart began to race. Where is my sweet little lamb? Pulling my DDD from my pocket, I quickly dialed Y/N. Perhaps they had already gone back to the House of Lamentation. I wouldn't be upset; I just want to know that they're safe. My foot tapped anxiously as the dull ring of the phone continued buzzing in my ear. A few more rings, and I heard all noise stop followed by a small sigh.

"..."

"Y/N. Love, are you there?"

"... Simeon..." they spoke quietly.

"Y/N, are you okay?"

Listening intently, I could hear the sound of the wind. While it was a breezy day, I didn't think I would hear that much noise.

"..."

"Y/N. Sweetheart, where are you? It sounds rather windy."

"... Simeon, I'm sorry," they whispered.

"Sorry, what for? For leaving RAD without me? Y/N, I'm not mad about that. I just want to make sure you're safe," I tried to sound reassuring but I was growing antsier by the minute.

Y/N took a deep breath. "No, I... I haven't left... yet."

My heart rate skyrocketed. "Whatever do you mean?"

"I can't do this anymore," they cried.

My heart shattered. "Y/N where are you?"

"I can't"

"Y/N please!" I screamed, tears filling my eyes making it near impossible to see. "At least tell me where you are so I can see you. Please Y/N, please let me see you."

They took a haphazard, shaky breath. "Roof," they said, barely audible.

My feet took off. As I ran I kept my DDD to my ear telling Y/N how much I loved them and that I would be there soon. Soon enough, I barged through the door to the roof and there I saw them. Y/N stood on the edge, their back to me. Quietly I approached them, not trying to scare them. As I got very near I heard them sigh and lower their DDD to their side.

"Simeon, where do humans go when they can't make it?"

I tried to approach them but they turned back to me, making me freeze. Y/N's once vibrant eyes now looked back at me, rather through me. Their stance was defeated and tired.

"What do you mean, Y/N?" I asked calmly.

I watched, tortured by how their expression contorted with pain. "I can't do this anymore, Sim. I don't want to be here. I don't want to be in the human realm. I just... I don't want to be anymore. It hurts so much that I can't even breathe sometimes. Simeon, I'm just so tired."

As they looked back at me, tears falling freely from their dull eyes, I felt my own tears drip down my cheeks. I hesitantly took a step forward but paused when they took a step back, their feet dangerously close to the edge.

"Y/N, please step down from the ledge. Let's talk this through," I begged.

"I can't talk about this anymore. It hurts too much. I tried to be happy for you. Genuinely I'm happy with you; it's about the only time I am happy. But that happiness doesn't last. The only thing that lasts is pain," they choked out with a raspy voice.

"Y/N, we can work through the pain together. Come with me, little lamb," I pleaded through my tears.

"I'm sorry Simeon," they said.

"For what, love?"

"You deserve better, you always have Simeon. I'm sorry I couldn't be that for you," they choked back a sob.

I put my hand out to grab them. "Y/N, my sweet lamb, please. You deserve better than this pain. Let me in; let me help, please," I softly spoke. I could feel my tears falling down my face. It's too much for me to bear seeing Y/N be in pain, and right now, the main priority is to get them somewhere safe. I have to protect them.

I watched as Y/N stared back at me, their eyes seemed so lost, so lifeless. "I'm sorry Simeon, I'm so sorry." In a blink of the eye, they fell backward.

"No!" I screamed out reaching for them.

Our hands barely grazed, but it wasn't enough and I watched as their body disappeared from the ledge.

My heart is in my ears.

I didn't even waste a moment to consider any consequences.

'Y/N, my sweet. I'm coming'

My body followed after them, my mind was already made up.
