Murdered: A Crime Film Noir

The dim lights barely illuminated the dark alleyway, creating multi-faceted shadows that danced wildly. Two figures made their way through the cold, wet space. Their steps matching a sharp tune before stopping short of a dark scene. What did the two see?

~

The detectives could not believe their eyes.

Lying motionless, with a broken neck was a Dame like no other.

She was well known around these parts as a night club singer.

"Who would have murdered such a beauty?" Mammon sighed.

"Whoever did it, will pay for their crimes," Lucifer responded.

The two detectives, the best of their generation, gathered what evidence they could.

Making their way to the local strip, they entered a well-known establishment: Ruffio's.

As Mammon scanned the room, Lucifer interviewed the night club keep.

"Hey stud. What's a big, strong man like you doing here by yourself?"

"Back off toots, I'm working here," Mammon countered.

The waitress huffed and turned to leave.

Detective Mammon continued his work.

Finally...

Success!

The murdered Dame's bag was found.

What's inside?

Nothing...

Nothing? That can't be.

Disbelief coursed through as the Detective went to reunite with his partner.

"What did you find?" Detective Lucifer inquired.

"The doll's bag. But there's nothing in it. Not even a tube of lipstick?"

"She seemed popular amongst the crowd. She even wore a very specific perfume for them," Lucifer replied.

"That would be in her dressing room, right?" Mammon asked.

Lucifer nodded and headed that way; Mammon right behind.

As they made their way to the Dame's dressing room, a familiar somber tune was heard, along with something else.

Someone was causing a commotion.

"Come on Bobby. You told me I could sing if something ever happened to her."

"Not tonight, Baby Barb. Tonight, no singers. Out of respect," Bobby spoke back.
