Y/N's tiny feet pattered around the compound in search of her father.
The night had crept upon her, but she didn't want to go to bed, for she hadn't said goodnight yet.

With a small, flowing dress swaying as she ran through the institute, the eleven-year-old heard voices from a distant room—Felix's room.
Slowing down, her chubby hands took hold of the door to peek inside.
"She's doing well, that's all I can hope for her."
"You're being delusional, Weber."
Another man, his brown hair shining in the orange light, his glasses reflecting it, stood with a tall prominent image.
"Her being here puts her—puts this whole damn island in danger," the stranger said.
Felix poked at his chest, making him take a deep breath.
"Quiet your voice. I shouldn't even be talking to you, much less let you see her. You're the delusional one."

"They'll come for her one day."
"You think I don't know that! I already caused a ruckus just so they wouldn't kill a child! Mari's child!"
Y/N felt goosebumps run across her arms, toes curling.
"I saved her because she deserves to live. I'm not going to let you jeopardize that. You can't see her."
"I'm not trying to. I have her best interest in mind too."

Felix scoffed, "Y/N's my problem. Not yours. Don't tell me what to do."
"They won't risk her living forever and you know that. Her being here is a mistake."
Y/N's hand slipped, causing the door to creak open.
"Y/N!"
"Dad, I forgot to say goodnight."

The two men took steady breaths, unsure how long she'd been there.
Grisha knelt down, Felix cringing at his actions.
"Hello there."
"Y/N, this is Grisha Jeager—he's—"
"A friend of your mother. I wanted to see if you were doing well living here."
"Mhm. I love it here!"
"That's—that's good."
Felix placed his hand on Grisha's shoulder, "it's best you get to bed. Goodnight, Y/N."
