Ending Note ( from a very tired author )

I feel very tired.
This book has drained the life from me.
I've written all the metaphors and parallels my little hands could muster.
And I did it in under a year.
I had to speed write the ending since I realized the second part of the final season was coming in January and I wasn't gonna sit around and wait for it.

Sorry 40 was so short, but I feel like I've said all I wanted to say. They're happy. They're free. That's all that matters.

I wanna delve into this story a bit more since it means a lot to me. Way more than others.
In my personal opinion, I feel like my plot fits super well with the canon. Like freakishly well. Maybe I'm overthinking everything.
Eren and Y/N had so many parallels. This book took over my brain because there was so much to put in.

I hadn't even finished the first season when I starting writing.
I got the idea for Y/N's powers from the movie WWZ. The scene in the hospital where Brad Pitt took the zombie camouflage medicine and then walks down the hall while zombies run right by him was the inspiration.
I thought it would be cool if titans did the same thing.

My friend (concept writer from God) had gotten through seasons 1-3 way before me so I had to ask her if it was plausible.
Originally, Y/N was not Marleyan. Mostly cause I didn't know they existed yet.
But it made more sense for her to be from there, and thus it was born.
The first draft of this story is very similar to the scene where Marilena leaves, except she didn't really have a reason to. Marley gave her one.
(I might publish the very first draft haha)

Y/N and Levi are kinda like really fun together? I like their dynamic of grumpy and smiley.
I really liked her relationship with Eren as a mother figure.
She was definitely a mother to all the kids. Could you tell Jean is a favorite of mine?

Y/N's time in Marley was also planned ahead too. I began to wonder why Marley would need her if they have her mom. Then it clicked.
It felt very weird coming up with it, but I couldn't think of anything else. It made the most sense.
I didn't want her recovery to be fast either. She lost herself. She became different.
But she wasn't gone.
I liked that she was able to recover from all the suffering the world had cursed her with.

I did so much analysis on AOT and it's messages that I lost my mind.
I read discussions on what certain scenes and words meant. I read discussions on why people hatred the ending.
I even read a bunch of discussions about the Armin v Erwin debate.

That's why I changed the ending.
The Armin v Erwin debate made sense to me to stay the same.
Hange dying made zero sense. Especially with Y/N. So I changed it.
I think the ending couldn't stay the same with how much I had added. It didn't feel right to have Y/N and keep the ending the same.

I'm happy with it.
And that's what matters.
I spend hours and hours of restless nights, energy drinks, and missing assignments to get this done.
And I like it.

That's a first lmao.

I hope you did to.
Thanks for reading.
