TWENTY SEVEN - MARILENA

𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙖 ( 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙨 )

Marilena was a woman everyone knew.
She was a very patriotic Marleyan, who often invented technologies to make the country more advanced and ahead of others. We praised her for what she did. Maybe it all went to her head.

Most people within my father's field were close to her despite their own statuses.
I had learned of what she achieved before the public.
And what it was would set the world aflame.
Marilena, or Amelia as Patrick L/N called her, had reconstructed her genetic code. She achieved what sounds impossible, but sure enough, tried and tested, pure titans avoided her like she was a plague.

She called it the cure to Marley's fear, a way to invade Paradis without worrying about all the titans they'd sent there.
Others had called it a weapon.
I saw it for what it was: a way for Marleyans to cower from the true power of the rumbling.

Marilena had become pregnant in later years, claiming that her genes would pass down, creating an army of Rumbling protection. I felt bad for whatever poor children would have to be born to such a woman, to such a cause.

However, when I was fifteen, the streets cried in agony.
Marilena, on a mission to check for fossil fuels on Paradis island whilst pregnant, had been captured. Her Eldian assistant returned with this news and was hung in the town center for all to see.
Patrick died not long after I joined the restoration, filled with too much grief I suppose.

When I was celebrating my own baby being born, Marilena returned. It had been a shock to the world, for the savior of Marley had come back for them.
Things were not so perfect.
She had returned alone without her baby.
I had imagined the baby died, considering it must've been hell to give birth at such a place. However, that was not the case. She'd simply left them there.
