Chapter 31

Evelyn took out the first batch of cookies out of the oven and put them on a cooling tray. She placed a tray of brownies in the oven and closed the door. She sat down on the island and set a timer on the tablet while flicking through her playlist. Smiling, she chose a girl pop song and danced around the island to start on the mini pineapple upside down cakes. As she added the pineapple rings to the muffin tins she heard the elevator ding announcing its arrival.

"That smells incredible Evie!" Natasha said coming into the room with Wanda.

"Hey guys!" Evelyn said smiling, "what are you lovely ladies up to?"

"We wanted to see if you would like to do a girls night tonight?" Wanda said, sitting down into one of the chairs on the island.

Evelyn couldn't help but smile huge at the two women, "Oh my god that sounds incredible!"

"Awesome! We invited Pepper but she sadly has to attend a conference for Stark Industries," Natasha said looking over the playlist Evelyn had made.

"She can join next time!" Wanda said smiling, "why are you doing all this baking?"

"Sam invited me to go to the VA with him tomorrow and I promised I would bring them treats," Evelyn explained as she added the pineapple cake mix to the muffin tins.

"She is an incredible cook Wanda - you should've been here for the Italian dinner she made us," Natasha said remembering the great dinner.

"I have some Sokovia recipes I can show you Evie! I think you'd love Honey cake - it's a Christmas tradition but is amazing all year long," Wanda said as the brownie timer went off.

"That'd be amazing Wanda! I love trying new recipes. I think I am almost done here - what is the plan for tonight?" Evelyn asked as she put the brownies on a cooling rack and started putting the muffin tin in the oven.

"Well, we were thinking some shopping for the party, get some dinner, and get to know each other," Wanda said clasping her hands together smiling

"Party?" Evelyn asked, looking between the two women.

"Tony is having a party on Wednesday to welcome the newest Avenger - Spiderman," Natasha explained, "we thought you would've heard since you share a floor with Cap and Bucky."

"A party on a Wednesday? Man this is such a different life then I thought I'd have. Is it going to be formal like the last one?" Evelyn said, groaning.

Natasha laughed at her, "No, more like a party than an event."

"Good - I'm not wearing heels this time. If I have to punch someone I want to make sure I have better footing so I don't break knuckles," Evelyn said laughing at the shocked look on Wanda's face.

"I seemed to have missed quite the party!" Wanda said laughing.

"Who is Spiderman?" Evelyn asked, realizing she had never heard of this Superhero.

"He's a kid - maybe 21 years old. He's a genius and Tony's protege. You'll like him - he's sweet," Natasha explained as she eyed the cookies.

"Okay you guys can have one cookie each but then I gotta start pushing these desserts out so we can start our girls night!" Evelyn said laughing, offering them the tray.

"Incredible," Wanda said after she took her first bite.

"I told you!" Natasha said, nodding in agreement.

Evelyn smiled at the praise. "Thanks guys - now to bake about 2 dozen more."

"We will see you around 5!" Wanda said, giving her a big hug "I think we all need this." At that both women walked towards the elevator and waved goodbye.
