"I think it's time I tell you what's been going on."

Dream waits patiently for Sapnap to elaborate on this statement, not knowing what to expect. He figures this will be his explanation for the odd behavior recently.

"Karl rejected me," Sapnap says.

Dream's eyes widen, mostly in surprise but partly in disbelief. "He rejected you? When? What happened?"

"Yesterday, we were outside watching the stars and I kind of spilled my feelings to him, but he told me he doesn't feel the same way," Sapnap says, laughing in a pained way. "Dream, he told me he sees me as a brother, a best friend, not a boyfriend. Why did I think he would like me as anything more?"

"Sapnap..." Dream says, putting an arm around his friend to console him. The brunette buries his head in his hands and leans back onto the wall, the comfortable bed under them shaking slightly.

"Fuck! I let myself fall in too deep and now look at me!" Sapnap says, lifting his hands to reveal his tear stained face. He sniffles, letting them fall down his cheeks, the salty tears dropping down onto the blanket below them.

"It's okay," Dream says, trying his best to calm Sapnap down.

"How can you say it's okay?" Sapnap practically yells, more tears flowing down his face. "It's obviously not okay! I'll be lucky if he even wants to be friends anymore, let alone boyfriends! He hates me, I just know it."

"He doesn't hate you," Dream says softly, rubbing Sapnap's hand with his own.

"How can you know that?" Sapnap asks, seeming as if he's trying to expect the worst.

"Because you two are so close. He wouldn't just drop you because you confessed to him. If he does, he's a dumbass and doesn't deserve your friendship anyway," Dream says.

"You don't understand! You should've seen the way he was looking at me!" Sapnap says, crying harder now. "He made me feel like a monster, like I was stupid to even think anything would work between us. I'm not even being dramatic either, he looked terrified when I confessed, yet he so effortlessly broke my heart."

"Like I said, it'll be okay," Dream says.

"No it won't," Sapnap scoffs, sniffling and wiping some of his tears. "I fucked everything up as always."

"You didn't fuck anything up," Dream says nicely, to which Sapnap scoffs again. "Listen, you're an amazing person and deserve the world, Sapnap. Are you really going to let one rejection get to you? No, you're going to go back out there and show him what he's missing. You're going to be the best person you can be, because I know that's what you can do. I know you're a bad bitch and don't deserve to be crying over some boy."

"He's not just some boy, he's Karl! Stupid, annoying, kind, sweet Karl," Sapnap says, sniffling again. His voice sounds so hopeless, and Dream hasn't heard him sound so broken before.

"You must really love Karl," Dream says.

"I do," Sapnap replies, smiling softly. "I just wish he felt the same."

"I know."

On Tuesday, George hadn't responded to any of Dream's calls or texts. The blonde had thought this was just because George is busy, but when he's walking toward his usual bench at night, he sees George sitting there and understands that it's not because he's busy.

"George?" Dream says, causing the Brit to snap his attention from the floor up to Dream.

"Oh, hi Dream," he says with a smile, one Dream can tell isn't too authentic.
