29: The Funeral

The dreaded day has finally arrived, Alvin's funeral. I sigh and get out of bed, I quietly walk down the stairs of Hank's house. The unit and Merideth have all been staying with Hank since Alvin died, deciding it's good to be with family during this. I see Jay and Merideth curled together on the couch.

"He's gonna regress today, isn't he?" Hank asks

"Big-time, I'll probably need help taking care of him," I reply

"Whatever you guys need, we're here," He says

"I know," I tell him and go wake Jay

"Sweetie, it's time to wake up," I say and kiss his head

"Oh god, it's time for the funeral isn't it?" He asks

"Yeah, it is," I reply sadly

He groans and gets up for some coffee and breakfast. Everyone, including myself goes and gets changed into the police unifroms and head over to the district where most of the service is being held before we burry our friend. I grab Jay's hand and intertwine our fingers as we arrive at the district.

"I can't do this Mouse," Jay says

"Yes, you can, I know this is hard, your burrying your dad, but we're gonna get through this," I tell him

We go do hugs with Will, Platt, and some of the other officers before sitting down.

Jay

My hands are shaking when I get called up for my speech. I look at everyone and take a deep breath.

"Alvin Olinsky was a great police officer, one of the best as far and Intelligence and I are concerned, but for me, he was more than that. When I was 7, I got kicked out of my house and Alvin found me and took me in, from that day forward, he did everything my father didn't do, and that was be there and interact with me. That's all I could've ever wanted and he gave that to me. *Sob* Today I'm not only burrying my friend, but also my father *Sob* and I'm going to miss him very much. So here's to Alvin Olinsky," I finish and go sit back down

Mouse gives me a hug and grabs my hand. Everyone else does their speaches and then the traditional officer funeral stuff and we head to the graveyard to burry my dad. I will myself to stay big during the whole ordeal, but let myself slip when it's over.

I'm stopping this chapter here becuase I don't know what else to write about Alvin's funeral.
