18: Days with big brother and conversations

Mouse

For the first time in a while, I walk into the district without Jay. Will happened to be working the graveyard shift at med tonight and he and Jay haven't spent time together in a while so I dropped Jay off on my way to the district. 

"Where's Jay?" Kim asks 

That gets the whole unit looking at me.

"Well I brought you each a bag for when Jay's little and to answer your question, Will's working the graveyard shift tonight so Jay wanted to spend some time with him," I answer

"It's good that they're spending time together but we got a dead body," Voight replies and takes one of the bags from me

"K.," I say and sit down at my desk

I open the door for my little brother and take a look at him. I open my arms and Jay steps into them, burying his head in my neck. I wrap my arms around my baby brother and rub his back.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I ask when Jay doesn't let go as soon as he normally does

"Missed you," Jay replies

Jay lets go of me and follows me into my apartment. He jumps up on my counter and I make us pancakes for breakfast. 

"If Mouse doesn't pick you up by four this afternoon, I'm supposed to take you by the district," I tell Jay

"Well, you better count on taking me in because someone decided to kill this lovely morning." Jay sighs and looks up from his phone

I give him a look of sympathy, especially since both Mouse and I are leaving Monday morning for different conferences, tech for Mouse and medical for me.

"What are you going to do if you slip while Mouse and I are going out of town for two weeks?" I ask Jay

"I slipped at work one day and Mouse told the unit so, we're all gonna spend the next two weeks at Voight's house," Jay responds 

I give him a look and speak again.

"You guys all together at Voight's house for two weeks and your not gonna get tired of each other, yeah, that'll end so well." I sass

"Whatever." Jay sasses back
