Brans pov
Silence
Thats the only sound occupying the changing room as i sit next to coach Brian who is staring at The ground in disbelief .
"Would it be more comfortable if we went to my office instead if here?" Coach asks after clearing his throat.
"No, its fine" i respond never taking my eyes of the locker in front of me
"I don't know what to say bran" the coach begins his leg bouncing
"Hell i don't think anything i say will match up to just how sorry i am" coach continues choking up slightly
"Its not your fault coach" i reply
he sighs looking over to me "No it is my fault"
"I trusted him and i let him take care of you all, i should have known" he exclaims while throwing his head back angrily
"Coach he tricked everyone into thinking he was a good guy, theres no way you could have known what he was really like" i reassure him
"But you Don't understand bran i was friends with him, i talked to him while he was doing all that horrible stuff to you" coach practically yells but i can tell its not directed at me — He's just angry at himself
"He visited me in hospital after i fell on my back in my time off and he was late" the coach says before sighing and pressing his hands to his face "he said he was with someone... i think that someone was you"
"Coach theres no way you could have known, please don't blame yourself"
The changing room goes back to being silent as we process our thoughts and while coach thinks of what to say to me next.
"Your so kind bran, this should never have happened to you" he responds while smiling at me.
"Now i better not keep you waiting you have practice to do" coach says as we stand up and head out of the locker room, this has actually been the first time in a while I've felt safe in this room
"Oh and by the way" he adds turning to me
"If you ever want to sit out in practice just ask me and i will let you go to my office and if you want you can get changed in the gym toilet" coach says while smiling softly
"Thank you coach, it really means a lot" i respond smiling softly at him
Coach Brian returns the smile before speaking "i will do anything to make you feel comfy"
After we leave the changing room i head towards the others and think about what happened. Coach Brian is so kind and he really shouldn't blame himself for what happened with David — he tricked everyone.
Dannies pov
"Are you not hungry?" Dad asks as i push the food on my plate around with my fork
"No" i mumble looking up at them. They both look at me with concerned reddened eyes
"At least eat something" mom says placing her hand on top of mine.
"Im really not hungry" i hiss pushing the plate across the table causing it to fall on the floor smashing and spilling all the food in the process.
Arlo Wastes no time in darting to the food in a heap on the floor and shovelling it into his large slobbery mouth.
"Well at least it didn't go to waste" Mom shrugs before eating a spoon full of the food unbothered by what i had just done.
"Is this about what happened with bran" Dad asks raising his eyebrow
"Yeah"
" baby what happened wasn't your fault" mom says her voice soft
