                              Mad Exes

I woke up to a wonderful smell. Austin was cooking breakfast. It smelled like he knew what he was doing. Not surprising. I don't think there was anything this man could not do.

Austin looked in my direction and noticed that I was awake.

"I decided to make breakfast for you."

I got up from the couch and walked over to the kitchen entrance. I stood there and our eyes met. We stood there for a couple of seconds just staring into each others eyes (as we always do) before I finally asked what he was making.

"Okay well I'm all about healthy living and eating healthy so we have grits, avocado slices, turkey bacon, some eggs, waffles and orange juice. All organic!"

This was truly a man after my own heart.

"Wow! That sounds and looks delicious" I said as he was fixing my plate.

"I have practice at eleven. I figured we could eat, talk a little, I'll drop you off at your place, go to practice and maybe we could do dinner.

I gave him this sultry look and agreed. "That sounds like a plan."

Austin got himself ready and gathered all his things for practice and we were gone.

The drive to my place wasn't that long. We actually don't live that far from each other. We pulled up to my house and that's where we temporarily parted ways...but not before Austin gave me a kiss on the forehead.

"See you later Dez."

"Talk to you later Austin. Love you!"

He smiled as if I lit up his whole entire world.

"Love you too."

Hours passed by and I was bored and sad. I was bored because that's a normal feeling I have on Saturdays. I don't usually work on Saturdays except for when we're shorthanded and I'm covering someone else's shift. I was sad because I had gotten so used to being around Austin that I wanted to spend every breating moment of my existence with him.

My phone started to ring. I just knew it was Austin. I answered the phone...

"Hey my car broke down and I really need a ride."

I rolled my eyes so hard.

"Okay Julia I'll be there as soon as I can." I said hesitantly.

What the hell did I just agree to?

I was regretting my decision to help out my ex the whole drive there.

I pulled up and there she was with this stupid ass grin on her face.

"Oh baby, thank you so much! Always looking out for your girl." She said as she was opening the passenger side door.

I locked the door before she even had a chance to get in.

"Let me explain something to you sweetie! I said mockingly.

"I am not your baby. We will never get back together. I am no longer attracted to you. Oh, and my favorite part is that I am TAKEN! I need you to understand these things before I take you anywhere! Understand it. Process it. Let it sink in, okay?

Her smile faded away. It was almost like we switched expressions because I had the stupid ass grin on my face now.

I unlocked the door and we were on our way. She told me where she needed to be. I dropped her off and not a single word was spoken the whole ride.

It was about eight o'clock by the time I got home. Austin had called me three times. I ignored them all because I didn't want my delirious ex to be a topic in any conversation we had.

I called him back and he answered on the first ring.

"Austin I am so sorry for not responding to your calls. I had to handle some business with my ex and I didn't want her to be something we talked about.

There was a brief silence on the other end of the phone. Then he responded.

"Dezi, please! These things happen unfortunately. Maybe we can go out to dinner another time. We can talk now though. I think you owe me some conversation time." He said with a light chuckle.

I could tell he was bummed that we weren't going out to eat but I could tell he was very forgiving.

We talked for hours, getting to know each other better than ever.

"Wait! So you're mixed too?" He asked, almost shockingly.

"Yes. My mom is African American and my dad is Puerto Rican."

"You got some good genes girl." He said making me laugh.

He was making me laugh the whole entire time we were on the phone.

I looked at my clock and it was two in the morning. We were on the phone for six hours and it didn't even feel like it. I had to be at work at noon.

"Austin. We've been on the phone for six hours!" I said while laughing crazily.

He laughed.

"I know and I can tell you're sleepy too! You sound mad tired."

"I really am and I have to be at work by noon so we can definitely go out whenever your free and it'll be my treat. I must make it up to you."

He chuckled lightly.

"Yes you MUST! But I'll let you go to sleep and dream about me."

I smiled.

"Goodnight Austin"

"Goodnight Dez."

He made kissing sounds, making me laugh one final time before we hung up.

                         AUSTIN'S P.O.V.

We hung up the phone after hours of talking. I already knew I loved this girl but I loved her even more after getting to know her a lot more.

I turned my bedroom light out and decided to watch NBATV until I fell asleep until I received a phone call. I immediately answered without looking at the caller ID...

"Hello?...."

"Hey baby. I missed you and I just wanted to talk to you."

I looked at my phone with disgust. It was MY ex...Diamond.
