Chapter 20

                     Mad Protection (Part One)

It didn't take long for Callie to come pick me up after I called her.

As soon as Callie pulled up, she rushed out the car and gave me this great big hug. I didn't realize I was crying until she hugged me.

"Oh my gosh sweetie are you okay?" she asked.

"I'm just a little freaked out. I didn't mean to be dramatic."

"Oh no honey you're fine. You're not being dramatic but you're with family now and that son of a bitch doesn't want to mess with us!"

This was my first time meeting Callie and I already felt comfortable around her.

"Come on. Let's go. I have some Kleenex in the car so you can dry your eyes and you can look good for your man's game tonight."

She smiled and it made me smile. It's just something about the Rivers' and their smiles.

I walked over to the car and Austin's younger brother Spencer was in the car. He stepped out and he was almost as tall as Austin maybe two inches shorter.

"Is she okay?" he asked Callie.

"She's fine. Destiny this is Spencer as I'm sure you already know."

I stuck my hand out prepared to shake his hand. "Hi-"

He wrapped his arms around my waste and picked me up and proceeded to yell like an animal.

I couldn't do anything but laugh. He definitely has Austin beat in the comedy field.

Callie rolled her eyes with a smile on her face. "Excuse him. You're going to have to get used to this." she said.

"Okay." I said, still laughing uncontrollably.

He finally put me down and we all got in the car.

There was a car behind us that started to beep its horn. I got a little nervous thinking that it was Jayce but it turned out that it was Jeremiah, Austin's older brother and a couple of the family's friends.

They were beeping the horn for us to go. I looked at my phone and I saw that it was 6:03. The game starts in less than an hour!

"How long will it take us to get there?" I asked.

"It's only about ten minutes from here." Spencer answered. I was really asking Callie but I didn't realize she was on the phone.

"You're very beautiful. Like do you mind if I just stare at you and sing Justin Bieber songs?"

I busted out laughing and I caught Callie smiling while she was on the phone, trying not to bust out laughing herself.

Spencer started smiling when he saw that I was laughing. "I'm just joking about Bieber but you really are beautiful."

"Thank you very much." I said, still laughing. Once I finally controlled my laughter, I returned the compliment.

"And you're very handsome." He made a face pretending like he was about to cry, which made me laugh again.

"Aww she thinks I'm handsome." he said.

We finally got to the arena and it was 6:17. Callie had met up with a couple of her girlfriends when we got there and Spencer got with Jeremiah and the other guys but we all sat together on the second row.

Everyone was talking amongst themselves and then Jeremiah sat beside me.

"You alright?" he asked, putting his arm around me. I never felt so loved by the family of the person I was dating.

"I'm fine I'm still just a little shaken up but I'm okay." He pulled me in and wrapped both arms around me, giving me a hug.

"It's okay man. You're with family now and we don't play that bullshit!" I smiled. I could already tell that Jeremiah was the tough one who doesn't take no crap!

The players starting coming out to warm up for the game. That's when I saw him. It's been a whole day almost. I finally saw him.

I saw him looking around and he looked in our direction and saw me. Once he saw me, he mouthed the words, "I love you!"

"I love you too!" I mouthed back. I felt safe again.
