"Stop here, we can't go on." You signal Mono to stop, then you shine your flashlight at the dark vent ahead, "This leads to another area, if we want to go to the basement, we have to walk."

You look at the lighted hallway through the vent, you know it's risky because the Nurses are always hanging around the corridors like ghosts, but the two of you have no choice.

"Mono, can you help me remove this ventilation door?" You crawl forward a bit and point at the iron door next to Mono, not forgetting to remind him in a serious voice, "Remember to be gentle, loud noises attract the Nurses, their hearing is as good as bats."

Mono glanced at the ventilation door next to him, he reached out and lifted it with ease, the whole process making only a small insignificant noise, you breathed a sigh of relief at that. You were worried that Mono would violently kick the door open, but it seems Mono has calmed down now and understands that making noises will only cause more trouble for both of you.

"Let me go down first." Mono volunteered to go first, he stuffed a flashlight in his trench coat pocket, before you had a chance to stop him, Mono climbed out of the vent and landed on his feet expertly.

You almost had a heart attack because of Mono's sudden action, after you've calmed down, you stick your head out of the louver and reprimand Mono in a low voice, "Can you give me some time to react next time? What if there are enemies down there?"

"I told you first before I jumped down." Mono replied calmly while checking around, after confirming that there was no one else in the hallway, Mono raised his hands and gestured to you, "There's no one, you can come down."

You slowly crawled out of the vent and jumped down, but unlike Mono's smooth jump and landing, you almost fell over because you lost your balance. Mono quickly grabbed you and helped you to your feet, you shyly thanked him.

"Now which way are we going?" Mono asked, brushing off his wrinkled and dusty trench coat.

Currently the two of you are standing between two turns, in contrast to other areas, this place is as bright as day, there are many closed rooms on both sides of the corridor, countless medical supplies were strewn on the ground and dried blood was all over the white walls. You carefully dodged a few pieces of glass on the ground, even if you wear shoes you still don't want to step on them.

You frowned as you looked at Mono's bare feet, and after a few seconds you asked, "What's wrong with the shoes?"

There are dozens of bacteria and sharp objects on the ground, not to mention that outside is full of mud, rocks and countless other dangerous objects scattered everywhere, yet Mono and Seven were both barefoot as if they weren't afraid of injury and infection.

"They make noise." Mono replied succinctly, he's worn shoes before so he knows how noticeable they are with the noise they make.

"Well... Maybe it's because you're wearing the wrong kind of shoes with stiff soles or they don't fit properly, maybe you forgot your socks, your shoes were too wet or — You don't know how to walk on tiptoe." You reach up to list the cases one by one, seeing Mono staring at you, you shrug, "Oh come on! Even if you walk barefoot, that doesn't mean you don't make any sound."
