"I woke up to the bright sunlight streaming through the windows, casting a warm glow in the room. As I tried to stretch and get out of bed, I realized the blanket has been taken off me. Confused, I opened my eyes and saw him standing close to me. Startled, I screamed and covered myself with the blanket.
He quickly backed up and lost his balance, which made me burst out laughing. He looked at me with a glare, but I couldn't help but find his scared reaction funny.
"Oh my God, Ammar, your face is priceless!" I said, still chuckling. He gave me a lopsided smile, and before I knew it, he pinned me down on the bed, his eyes dangerously close to mine. I feel a rush of butterflies in my stomach as he hold my hands and wrapped his arm around my waist.
I can't help but feel a mix of nervousness and excitement as he leaned in closer, his warm breath brushing against my cheeks. "Why aren't you laughing now?" he asked, his nose gently rubbing against mine. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself, as he leaned in and kissed my cheek. He smirked and pulled away,, "Good morning, meen. I hope you enjoyed the night."
I woke up, still trying to process what had just happened. As we got up for fajr, I noticed all the pillows I have arranged on the floor were now scattered. I quickly gathered them back and let out an exasperated "Ugh." Just as he was about to walk into the bathroom, I stopped him.
"What were you trying to do while I was asleep?" I said, placing my hand on my waist.
"Oh, that," he replied. "I saw a spider on your body, so I tried to remove it."
"Next time, don't do that! I'm not used to a man sleeping next to me, I swear."
He smirked , "Then get used to it." As he tried to walk past me, I blocked his way.
"Where do you think you're going?" I demanded. I feel like kicking him at that moment. "This is my bathroom, not yours. You didn't even ask for permission."
He walked towards me, and I instinctively stepped back. He gently pulled me aside and slid into the bathroom. "Ugh," I sighed in frustration. "Ammar, why are you doing this to me?"
He ignored my question, and I stood there for a while until he finally came out and left the room. I glared at his back, stripped down my dress, and grabbed a towel to wrap around myself before opening the door and stepping into the bathroom to take a bath.
As I brushed out my hair and wrapped it in a second towel, I walked to the closet. Two racks of clothes greeted me, and I couldn't help but feel torn between having too many options and not finding anything I wanted to wear.
"Ugh, Yesmeen, think, think, think," I muttered to myself. "A gown would be nice," I heard his voice behind me.
Thank goodness I have my hijab on because I know him well enough to expect him to walk in. I chuckled to myself and continued getting ready.
"Hey, remember what I told you about seeing me dress?" I stated .
"I should help you," he added with a smirk.
I ignored his comment and focused on picking out my outfit. I opted for a pair of straight-leg light jeans and a white top. After grabbing some underwear and jewelry, I headed back to the bathroom to get dressed. As I unwrapped my hair, I reached under the sink for my dryer and straightener. It has been months since I last dried my hair, but the black strands felt soft as I finished. I styled it by pulling back half of my hair and straightening the bottom section, giving it a quick spritz of hairspray.
