After what seemed like a second later the light returned. My eyes adjusted to the light as I had just been in a very dark place for a long time. Looking around me I note that I'm in an all-white room with simple furniture. A set of two couches and a long brown coffee table.
I sit up on the couch. This is all strange. No, this is more than strange. Where the hell am I! Some sort of psychotherapy room? Is someone going to tell me I need to be medicated?
"Welcome back to the Land of The Living." A bored sounding man spoke from a couch across from mine. A jolt of fear struck me. He's the man from the warehouse. The plague mask still fashioned on his face and yellow eyes and scary demeanor.
I remain silent but actively look for a way out of this reception office. Over by one of the two doors a short-I mean really short-person stands guard. The toddler-sized person wears a black cape and a less stylish plague mask.
"This must've come as a surprise to you, All For One. Meeting this way wasn't the plan. I wanted to get aquatinted with you calmly. I'm not your enemy, I am called Overhaul. This is my underground hideout and I live here with my group; the Eightfold Cleansers." Overhaul rests his gloved hands on his knees.
"I have something important to ask you. What is it that you desire? Finances? Happiness? Your old life back? I'll be more than happy to help you in any way I can... if you help me first. This is my offer." I'm taken aback by his way of being nice and rude at the same time. His offer flies right over my head. All I hear is 'if you don't help me I'll kill you.' I might be overreacting but he did kidnap me and I think I died somewhere along those lines.
"No deal. I want to leave." I cross my arms showing that I'm not interested in his talk.
"You're free to go then." Overhaul gestures to a door. Stunned it takes me a moment to process what was just said.
"I can leave?"
"I don't know, can you?" If it weren't for his 'I'm far superior to you' air about him, I would be pretty pissed at his attitude. But no. I'm terrified. I'm anxious to get as far away from Overlord as I can.
I'm positive this man is a killer, there's no way he kisses babies and pets puppies with that mask of his. Also, I'm like 50% sure he actually did kill me.
Slowly I lift myself off the couch and tiptoe my way to the door that's not guarded by the one-foot tall person. All the while looking back and forth thinking that at any moment they will attack me. Surely this is a trick. They know who I am.
The door handle is chilled. Trying to control my grip while not swinging the door open harshly. No quick movements. I get a whiff of the lemony fresh sent of cleaning supplies. I take a deep breath to calm my nerves, and it exits out my mouth as a high pitch squeak.
The doorway is blocked by a man in a bizarre full-faced mask. Looking up at the intimidating appearance I shrink back. The man takes a step forward. I get the hint, iI can't go through this door. I turn to the only other exit.
Crossing the distance quickly this time I reach over the foot tall person and grip the door handle. See? Not that hard after all. I open the door thinking the person will move out of my way. A dark hallway lies behind door #2 but while attempting to exit the once short person grew a limb the length of a baseball bat and as thick with muscles as All Might.
The door slammed shut in my face. I stumble backward in the result. Flustered and near cursing I turn to my power for a way out. Concentrating on visualizing literally anywhere but here I activate the teleportation quirk I've gotten very fond of recently.
Like searching for an internet connection but getting none my quirk doesn't connect. It's like it's not even there anymore. I try another quirk. My first quirk, Kinetic Energy, but my eyes don't glow red. I feel déjà vu.
