ATTENTION!
BOOK 2 IS OUT!

I do not own My Hero Academia, it belongs to Kohei Horikoshi. Nor do I own any images that I use.

I only own my OC Shiki

I've put a lot of my heart into this story and I'm very happy with it <3

Great beauty can often hide a darker reality.

I only remember the warm summer nights.

Each day the sun set slower and slower. This delighted my young self because it meant I could stay up an hour later than usual. I could play with my sister Kita for longer too.

"I got one!" I yelled excitedly.

I ran around my large front yard underneath the huge trees. I came up to my older sister cupping my small chubby hands together. Kita peered in through the crack I left open to show her the bug I caught.

"Put it in the jar Shiki!" We worked carefully to not harm the insect and our collection of lightning bugs grew.

The only sounds in the night were laughter from the two girls. Their mother watched them quietly but with a wide smile on her face.

No one noticed the van parked on the street. They especially didn't notice the two men watching the family from the inside.

"I have an idea!" My sister gushed excitedly. "Watch me!"

I was already sidetracked wandering around looking for more bugs when a light too bright and large shone from my sister.

I covered my eyes at the sudden light in the darkness of the fading sunset.

Suddenly all around me, lighting bugs took to the air and I watched in amazement unable to control my loud laughter as all the beautiful lights landed on my glowing sister.

"You look like a big lighting butt!" I yelled. Running to her I covered my eyes from her luminescent skin.

"Stand back Shiki!" She told me and I took the tiniest step back, I couldn't bear to rip my eyes from her brightness. She shook her entire body and deactivated her quirk and all the bugs flew away.

"Oooh" I kept my eyes open wide to see the beautiful sight. Laughter bubbled up and out of me and I clapped at her performance.

"Do you think I can do that too Kita?" I stared at my amazing older sister. I want to be just like her when I grow up!

"Why don't you try it? Think really hard and maybe your quirk will finally come!" My quirk hadn't shown itself before though I am old enough for it to have manifested.

"Okay, okay, okay! I'm gonna try it!" I squinted my eyes shut and thought hard about a bright light. But something else happened instead.

Bright red flashed and my vision was doused in crimson. Kita screamed as the jar in her hands exploded by a bright flash of energy hitting it. I had no idea what was happening but I was scared and I didn't know how to stop it. I felt fear, my panicked state making things even worse. Zaps of energy shot from my hands without warning. The broken jar of dead insects lay scattered on the ground.

Kita's scream scared me even more than the jar breaking. I looked up at her terrified face and then down to the broken glass and the small cuts on her hands.

This isn't good, I hurt her. Mom quickly took Kita away from me and into the house. I didn't understand. I didn't know what happened but I knew it had to be my fault and I was going to be punished. I didn't mean to do it. How could I have known my new quirk would be so dangerous?
