Sometimes, I wanna drown in something that are not called my thoughts.

They indeed found Karli, with help from Zemo. Or his 'friend', which was a literal child. But hey, it got them where they wanted. Encountering Walker wasn't what Sam wanted or needed, since his head was literally still spinning from sharing a bed with Bucky.

He'd be lying if he said he was surprised about Bucky being homophobic. It made sense, the guy was born in a period of time where even looking at a guy too long was suspicious.

After their little talk, lying in bed, Sam proposed to Bucky to find out how 'queers' were treated in this century, and after he had gotten some info, Sam would gladly help him figure the rest out.

He didn't like the idea of pressuring Bucky into accepting it right away, so he promised himself to be more careful about his way too carefree touches.

But that was not fair, Sam thought, since Bucky made no indication to stop looking so fucking cute all the time. Big blue eyes mixed with a frown that rather resembled a pout than anything else. So fucking adorable.

But he also couldn't help but notice the change in Bucky's adittude every time he talked to Zemo. Because then, he turned cold, harsh and massively sarcastic. It was such a different version of Bucky, Sam wasn't sure how to handle that one. So he was relieved as he noticed Bucky turned soft and vulnerable again once he met his eyes. Though they turned sour again as he talked about saving Karli.

Nobody was ready to safe the kid, except him. He talked to her, in a normal enviroment, and maybe she was driven by the wrong motivations, but the root of her movement wasn't wrong.

Yet, it seemed like he was the only one seeing that.

It frustrated him to no end as he was the only one ready to try and help her in all kind of ways.

In their short talk, he got to know her, and he was so sure she was just a mislead teenager. She was a good person, that simply lost their way. He wanted to be the hand that lead her to the right path again.

Yet, he seemed to have driven himself into a wall. Sam could calm her, soothe her worries, but she was hellbend she still always did the right thing.

Karli was just tired of being ignored by the powerful government, and knew the only way to get to a politic was the immoral, the harsh, the ugly way.

She wasn't the first one, at that, but since she was not even a grown up, Karli ended up as the hot topic of the week.

Karli had multiple reasons as to why she should act up the way she did, as there were just as many reasons why Sam deemed her redeemable, but both parties, as always, were ignored.

Everything was just fine, all was good till Bucky's loud and angry "Hey!" boomed across the room as Walker marched into the room like some raging bull and declared Karli arrested.

He turned quickly around only to see her brown, fearful, and innocent, childlike eyes turn cold, dark and full of rage. She believed he betrayed her. And he couldn't help but feel as if he did.

He couldn't even spit an apology at her, so fast was she in getting away from her.

His last straw was when Zemo straight up shot her. All his protective instincts basically skyrocketed and he was seconds from slaughtering Zemo in such a gruesome way, he was glad Walker used the shield to knock the Sokovian out.

Defeated and exhausted, they made their way back to the safehouse, and Sam had enough sense to calm down.

Besides, Bucky's presence on his right side always helped him relax. There was some pleasure he took in knowing he had a supersoldier ready for his call at anytime. It was selfish and disgusting, the longer he thought about it, but everyone with eyes could see Bucky's adoration for Sam.

And Sam would rather kill himself and dance on top of his own ashes than betray this man's trust.

They had another talk about Karli, where Sam desperately tried defending her, but Bucky wouldn't hear about it. He stood stoically and told him Karli was better off without his help. He also said, she wasn't the Flagsmacher he deemed was in need of help. Bucky was, after all, a pretty perceptive one, and he picked up on the unwillingness of the others to follow Karlis command without any reason.

That made Sam stop. He did see some hesitation in the other Flagsmachers, he just never questioned it. But because Bucky mentioned it, it did seem like it.

But then, multiple things happened all at once. Walker, followed by Hoskins, as well as the Dora Milajae walked in and ordered to caption Zemo. Sam's headache grew ten times a minute, and soon, two feet away from him, an epic fight broke free as Walker had the audacity to threaten Ayo.

Haha! Poor guy, it was easier defeating Bucky and Steve than the Warriors of Wakanda.

At some time, Sam took pity on them. He slandered over to Bucky, who had been busy nursering his drink and told him they needed to help him, to which Bucky responded with "Looking strong, John!"

Aha, so he was talking to the sarcastic version of Bucky. Wonderful. He'd rather talk about this to the sweetheart version Bucky only seemed to have reserved for him.

But they did help, after some time. They did. Although Sam regretted it as he saw Ayo dislocate Bucky's arm without a second thought. So many emotions flashed across Bucky's eyes, from betrayal, to hurt, to slight anger, and back to betrayal. To Bucky, it seemed like after all nobody trusted him since he didn't know Ayo was capable of doing so.

Sam doubted she liked having done that, since as she passed him, she looked devastated. Ha, me too, Ayo, me too.

Ayo disappeared, Walker went god knows where, and Zemo used the uproar of the fight to vanish.

Sam turned around to tell Bucky to go search the Baron, but was stopped by his phone ringing.

The call changed a lot of things for Sam. Starting with trusting Karli. Never in his life did he fear more for his sister. But ending with knowing there was nowhere he was going where Bucky wouldn't follow him.
