Clementine stared at Lady Dimitrescu looking confused. Minutes after, she bursted in laughter which Lady Dimitrescu was taken aback.
"Hold up," she raised her hands. "Did you just say castle? Don't tell me I teleported in medieval times," she wiped her tears.
Lady Dimitrescu's expression became solemn. She scowled and clasped her fists together in front of her chest.
"Wait, am I on drugs?" Clementine's eyes widened. "Oh, shit! That's right! The cab I was in bumped on something, I must be dead. Am I in heaven, wait no- this must be the house that people get to stay in after they died, I get it now!"
"Silence!" Lady Dimitrescu yelled on the top of her lungs.
Shivers ran down on Clementine's spine. It was only then that she realized the woman standing right in front of her isn't an ordinary being, the woman was tall and she's sure that if the woman stepped on her she'd get crushed. (Of course, we all want Mommy to crush us *wink*)
Clementine took a deep breath and swallowed. All of a sudden, it feels real, as if she's really in a far away place where no one knew her. But then, the lady in front of her? Who is she and what does this mean? This could be a dream.
"Don't you recall? You knocked on my door, inviting yourself to find out what's behind the castle's door, and now you're treating it like a dream or a joke?" She said in a stern tone.
Clementine instantly remembered seeing a massive gate with a carved maiden and demon, and wondered whether that was the gate she had unlocked to gain access to the castle.
"I remember now, there was a snowstorm outside and I was looking for shelter. The place seems isolated for I don't see any houses to knock on and seek help. I thought I would die from hypothermia," she pressed her lips.
"However you did not." Lady Dimitrescu knelt in front of Clementine once more. "Since I saved your life, you don't you owe me something now?"
Clementine pointed at herself. "I-I don't have money at the moment."
Lady Dimitrescu burst out laughing as if she was amused. "I don't need money your money, dear."
"Then how can I repay you for your kindness?" Clementine nervously asked.
Lady Dimitrescu's half-lip raised and she stood up walking towards the fireplace nearby.
"I'm very short on servants at the moment. Why don't you work for me? I may require all of the assistance I need in order to manage this massive place," she lifted her hand trying to feel the warmth of the fire.
Clementine stared at Dimitrescu's figure as she thinks of what to say. Lady Dimitrescu turned around facing Clementine with a sly smile on her face.
"Or, you could just waltz out of this castle and I'd forget about everything." She stated.
"You mean I have a choice whether to stay or not?"
"Yes, i'm providing you options so it doesn't appear that i'm pressuring you. I'll be gladly to accept whatever you choose, although I prefer the first option," she chuckled.
Clementine stared at her, blinking her eyes still trying to think of what to say. Instead of coming up with words to say she just stared at Lady Dimitrescu, standing tall behind the fireplace.
"Damn, mesmerizing." She thought.
"I'll give you time to think. If you're going to choose the second option, make sure to leave this room that U wouldn't be surprised," she walked towards the door and knelt to exit the room.
