Addy wasn't sure if her heart had ever beat any faster than it did as she settled into her jump seat in the back of a personnel carrier. Jax settled before her to buckle her in, a task she was eager for his help with as she had zero experience with a 5 point harness.
He started by dragging the zipper of her jumpsuit all the way to her chin before smoothing a thumb over the embroidered nameplate on the top of her left breast with a short exhale of breath telling her he was thinking around the same lines as she was. His lusty grin was added confirmation as he strapped her in, adjusting everything snuggly around her smaller frame before sitting next to her and prepping himself for take off.
Addy's eyes slid, unbidden, down again, hyper aware of the worn cotton feel of the borrowed uniform. He wasn't taking her to the more glitzy transportation spaceport, the one that served as an orbiting airport for civilians. No, instead he was bringing her squarely into his world, where the rough and tumble sailors boarded docked cargo ferriers or the occasional smuggler attempted to divest themselves of goods. It was in attempted prevention of the latter that the change of dress was required. The thought that uniforms would at all prevent the infiltration of the less than savory types was laughable but rules were rules. Everyone on the station had to be identifiable by the markings on their shoulders and chests.
So it was that her hands were hidden inside the too long sleeves of Jax's spare jumpsuit. Everything about it was too big, the one he wore fit unfairly well, from shoulders, to cinched elastic waist and then a pant that ended perfectly at his ankle showing off his usual hard leather boot. Addy swam in it, he may have only been a few inches taller in height, but the breadth of him took up more volumetric space then she ever fully understood. Until now, when her body only took up half of the twin to what he wore so well. Identical in every way, right down to the name that burned against the top of her chest, marking her with more possession then she thought such a simple thing could do.
Fairsail.
That's who she was today, up here she was his, him in fact. The rumpled bars on her shoulders declaring her a Class I Navigator without the insignia of an assigned ship. Threads still drooped despairingly from where the Actaeon's patch was recently ripped from the garment. Up here she was completely dependent on her new namesake, the breadth of his experience and reputation keeping her vulnerability within reasonable bounds. Here she was Fairsail, something she had always secretly desired but never fully acknowledged. She was her own, no one's but her own. Until his name claimed her.
She could have ignored it, that rush of feeling that had flushed her skin from her cheeks to her toes if he hadn't reacted in the same way. His eyes lingering, his breath increasing into near pants before he had blinked rapidly and forcefully took control of his face. That had really been the nail in the sensation's coffin, he wanted her to be his as badly as she wanted to be taken.
Forgiveness was a powerful thing, and now that it had been passed between them, shared like a fine wine that was never poured from the bottle, but instead brought to lips directly. Leaving heady, heated bodies that sought out the weight of another, the one whose lips tasted of the same fermented intoxicant. Nothing remained between them unresolved to act as snags against their boots as they reached for each other, well, nearly nothing.
As the shuttle fired to life, Addy's hand snapped out taking a firm hold of his hard thigh, clutching as a terrifying vibration shuddered through the vessel. Jax placed his hand over hers, tangling their fingers and squeezing with reassuring pressure as he turned his face to her. So it was that she locked into his lilac gaze as she rocketed into space for the first time.
