Ron's PoV
After my little sea shanty, I took out my dagger, slowly gazing at my reflection from the blade. Feeling the slippery surface of the blade.
Then Hepheo approached me, "Hey kid," he called.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"Mind if I see your guardian's dagger?" he asked.
"Sure," I told him as I handed my dagger.
He held it firmly, his thumb slowly moved across the blade, he seemed to have noticed something, "I assume you're from the Apheper class?" he brought up.
"Yeah," I responded.
"And I'm guessing, you knew when Athe investigated this dagger of yours?" He continued.
"She did," I agreed.
"Well it's a good thing she listened to my lessons," he commented, "But I'm guessing she didn't show you this dagger's nice crafting detail."
"It's what?" I brought up.
"I see it's coating is even fading, not bad from what it's been through," he continued speaking about the dagger.
"What are you talking about?" I screamed out of confusion.
He continued focusing on the dagger, "Most Apheper would coat some of their items in some kind of fluid that would appear metallic when it settles," he began to explain, pulled out a vial full of amber fluid, "But thankfully it's not hard to take the coating off," he paused and turned to me, "You don't mind, right?"
"Ummm sure?" I awkwardly told him.
He then pour the vial onto my blade, it led to a bit of smoke of silver, parts of the gas sparkled, Hepheo rubbed the blade and when it settled... revealed a glowing gem-like material being the blade of the dagger.
"Behold," he remarked as he handed me back the dagger.
It was a crystal like material, the gem had a bright amber glow to it, there was a flowing motion within the interior similar to a river, along with that were floating sparkles that wandered around aimlessly, there were even thin strands that resembled electricity zapping the edges of the blade which was outlined by a bronze lining.
"What is this?" I asked with such amazement.
"That's a material that were used for expensive accessories back at home," Hepheo explained, "Though this dagger of yours..." he pointed at the blade, "Seems to be an heirloom."
"Then why would anyone coat this?," I asked.
"Let's be honest, carrying a dagger is suspicious enough," Hepheo commented, "And having one that glows would probably garner unwanted attention here and there."
"I wonder when they decided to coat it," I noted as I investigated my dagger.
"A Lot of Apheper would coat some of their stuff for design reasons," Hepheo pointed out, he then patted my back, "But don't worry, despite removing the coating, your dagger is as strong as before, the material is even stronger than the ones made for the Fraes, Erite, Aneth daggers."
He then left and I spent most of my time being mesmerized by the look of my guardian's dagger.
I even showed it off to Mally when I met up with her in her room. She had an idea after the drunk watching earlier that she needed my help. And I had a fun time making up with things to add to her plan, we even did a recreation of the plan and just ended up bursting to laughter. We agreed to keep the idea a secret, we couldn't let Annalie and Miles know we'd be messing with them.
