13. YuXin... I like you.

Liu YuXin was dense and had zero experience when it comes to relationship. But even if she's as dense as a century old wood, she knew what Kun was implying.

Even though she knew, she couldn't comprehend. Not when she'd spend more than half of her life regarding Cai Xukun as her little brother and caring for him like one.

"YuXin.. I like you."

The Confession came forth from Kun as he looked straight at her with an unwavering gaze.

"But.. We are siblings.. You are my brother..."

YuXin muttered softly as she tried to reason with her own thoughts in her head. It is wrong and it felt wrong to have feelings for my brother in a romantic manner. It's not supposed to happen.

"Are we? I don't recall calling you sister in my entire life."

Kun took the chance and pulled YuXin wrist firmly, and ushering her to sit on the bed next to him and she was still lost in her own thoughts.

"YuXin, I don't want to hide my feelings any longer. I don't want to be a coward in front of the person I love."

Kun took her hand in his, caressing it gently.

"But.. I.." YuXin looked up with hesitation, at a lost as to what she's supposed to feel. She'd be lying to herself if she said that she's no feelings for Kun. She sees him more than a little brother and it was more and more apparent for the past week but instead of exploring them further, she chose to bury it deep in her own heart, not wanting to face truth.

Kun and his parents were the only important people left in her life that she holds dearly and she didn't want to jeopardise the relationship that they had.

"I don't know about my own feelings.."

Hearing her reply, Kun flashed a relief smile, silently celebrating the fact that she didn't straight up reject him. That means I have a chance.

"YuXin, you don't have to give me an answer now. I can wait until you're ready."

Ever since that sudden confession from Kun, the fact that he is not a brother amplified in YuXin's mind and just lying on the same bed as him made her face flushed red uncontrollably even though they've been sharing the same bed for the past two weeks.

Sensing her tossing around in the bed, Kun said softly, "Can't sleep?"

"Um... I'm sleeping." YuXin quickly replied, burying her head into the blanket shyly.

Sleep didn't come easy for YuXin but eventually she lulled off to sleep after a tiring day of taking care of the chores, helping Kun and clearing her own work at home. Kun tilted his head over to her direction quietly, observing her curled up body with her small face peeking out from the blanket as her body shifted up and down from her deep breath.

Smirking to himself, he stretched his arm out and slowly put it in between her pillow and head to shift her closer to him. YuXin started stirring in her sleep and turned towards Kun direction, snuggling herself comfortably in Kun's chest, enjoying the warmth emanating from his body. That had been what was going on for the past week as they slept and obviously YuXin was kept in the dark about Kun's sneaky method. Stretching his lips to a full smile, Kun whispered softly, "Goodnight."

"All right, congratulation for surviving the month in cast. You are finally free." The doctor congratulated with a smile after removing the thick cast from Kun's arm and leg. After a month of staying with YuXin under her tender loving care, Kun finally recovered from his injuries. What was supposed to be a joyous occasion, however, made Kun sulked internally. Now that he has recovered, there was no excuse for him to be staying under one roof with YuXin and there's no excuse to sleep on the same bed as her.

As he stepped into her house to packed up his things, he heaved a loud sigh with a glum look. "Why? Aren't you glad you've finally recovered?" YuXin asked innocently.

Kun looked at YuXin with his brows knitted before shaking his head, "Just thinking about not waking up next to you.." His blunt words made YuXin shifted her gaze away as her face started flushing pink. "That.. Umm.. "

Kun placed his hand on her head and started ruffling her hair gently, "Kidding, I'll see you tomorrow morning."

Baby steps Kun, baby steps.

"YuXin and Kun, we will be having our annual fund raising gala for the company, don't forget to make yourself free next Saturday." Mr Cai reminded during their family dinner during the weekend.

The annual fund raising gala has been a tradition for the Cai conglomerate. Every year, companies were given the invitation to attend and rare collection items would be up for auction in order to raise funds for the different charity organizations. This year, they are raising funds for the orphanage and their aim was to raise more than 10 million dollars with this event.

On the day of the event, YuXin donned on a sheek and fitting suit that complemented her figure, hugging her in the right places. Kun also wore a neat black looking suit with a golden rimmed glasses bringing out his fair skin and suave look.

The moment they stepped into the ballroom with Kun's parents, all eyes were on them.

Many guests were from reputable companies in the country and some of them brought their daughters to the event with an intention of introducing them to Kun. Clearly, everyone wanted to be acquainted to the heir of the Cai conglomerate and possibly tying knots with him.

Many young women dressed to the nines in their glittery gowns were stealing glances at Kun, their eyes shining with delight as they eyes trailed from his top to bottom, admiring his physique.

Kun, who was used to the stares from others, paid no attention to them as he sat down at the table. However, YuXin who noticed the glances from the other girls, felt a sour note in her mouth, something that she had never experienced before.
