"I wanna go home, but sadly that isn't an option." Christine reassuringly patted Alexander's back, spewing about how he should have a better outlook on things. Devin wasn't much different from Alexander, secretly clenching and unclenching his sweaty hands in his coat's pockets.
It was the first day for finals, the exam stretching through out the week. Maths and Chemistry were first and even though Devin had tirelessly studied, there was still a bit of doubt on whether or not it was enough for him to pass. He closed his eyes, deeply inhaling and exhaling in an attempt to calm his jumping nerves. Christine noticed his silence, getting up from her seat next to Alexander to pull Devin into a warm hug. He instantly relaxed, burying his head in the crook of her neck. "How are you so huggable? Are you a pillow or something?" Christine brightly smiled down at him. "Shh. Don't go exposing my secret." He chuckled, gently pulling back when he felt a bit more relaxed.
"Thanks Chris. For everything." He said. She had been too good to him for the entirety of their friendship. He honestly didn't know where he would be without her shoulder to lean on. She simply scoffed in response, shaking her head, her loose, black hair shaking with her. "Tis fine my good man. Besides, don't thank me yet." Devin warmly smiled, but cocked an eyebrow on the unclear insinuation. "Yet?" He asked confusingly. She rolled her eyes teasingly, giving him a knowing smile. However, before he could further press the school bell rang, signaling the first step for the following five days.
Meanwhile with Jason....
"Good morning Mr. Moblit." The teacher let a wry 'Good morning' leave his dry lips in response. Mr. Moblit was an short and chubby old man, wrinkles covering the entirety of his brown skin. Jason wasn't particularly fond of him, but the man was the only thing that stood between him and his high school diploma. Mr. Moblit handed Jason the test papers, giving him a few minutes to properly read it through. "Are you ready Mr. Aslan?" He asked. Jason nodded confidently, Mr. Moblit 'tched'. "Very well then. You have your papers. Let the examination commence."
