Riiiiiing!!!
Loud cheers filled the classroom upon hearing the bell as the happy students immediately started leaving the classroom. Devin sighed. Thank the heavens that it was Friday! He began packing and looked around for Jason, spotting him leaning on the wall chewing gummy bears. Devin smiled and waved him over but saw Christine sprint into the half empty classroom and throw herself on him. Devin picked up his bag and made his way towards the comically cute couple. "Hey Chris happy birthday." He said giving her a hug. "You remembered! See Jason even Davy remembered!", she said throwing her hands in the air. "Sorry babe but I've had alot of stuff on my mind." Jason said wrapping his hands around her thin waist. "You know I'll make it up to you." He whispered. Devin turned his face away from the scene making Jason realize how uncomfortable he was. He let go of Christine's waist and instead rested his head on her shoulder. "Walk me home then." She said with a proud smile on her face. "No." Jason said simply. She pulled away and fake cried. "You know I normally walk with Devin." He said. She sighed. "Look I know the two of you have your 'bromance'", she said smirking at Devin, "But pleeeeeeease! Just this once!", she begged giving her best puppy dog eyes. Jason groaned and looked at Devin apologetically. "Its ok. You guys go have fun." Devin said smiling. Christine tackled him with a hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!", she said. Devin chuckled and watched as she and Jason walked away. "Use protection!", he shouted, receiving a middle finger from Jason.
He sighed and went to collect the books he left on his desk but was stopped by one of the girls who had been talking about him. "Awwwww. Poor little gay." She said 'sadly'. She was a thin dark skinned girl with short red hair and a tight almost suffocating purple and pink dress. He ignored her and retrieved his books. "Everyone knows you know. We just kept quiet about it for Jason's sake." She continued. He rolled his eyes. He had no time to listen to this barbie reject. Jason had already accepted him and that was all he needed. He instead placed his books in his bag and started towards the door. "He'll never love you. You're just a waste of space. Its people like you who ruin the population." He bit the inside of his cheek. "And its people like you who end up at the side of the street selling their worn out body for a pack of cigarettes." He fired back. She stood there with a stupidly shocked expression on her face. He smirked before exiting the classroom. His body felt hot. He shouldn't have replied, now he might've created a new problem. He sighed and walked out of his school but stopped upon seeing Jason and Christine over the other street, laughing and smiling with each other. If you're not even going to let you walk him home why make him leave me? He sadly thought. He shook the thought out of his head and continued on his journey home. He'll never love you. Why was he letting something so stupid toy with his mind. Ofcourse he never had a chance with Jason.... so why did it still hurt.
Upon finally making it home he was greeted by his smiling parents who's faces turned to that of worry upon seeing their son's clearly sad face. "What's wrong dev?", his mother quietly asked. "Wanna talk about it?", his father asked, patting the seat next to him. Devin slowly nodded, making his way towards them. His father pulled him into a hug and his mother patted his head. "What's wrong sweetie?", she whispered so as to not irritate him. "They found out." He quietly said. "Who found out darling?", she asked. He let a tear slip down his burning face. "My school. They all know because I was too obvious!.... I literally ruined my own life." He said clinging to his father. His father patted his back. "Are they bullying you?", he asked. "Not yet. But this girl tried to do so this afternoon." His parents exchanged concerned looks. "Dev.... does Jason know?", she asked curiously. Devin nodded. "But he said he doesn't care. But I can't find it within myself to be relieved! There's this nagging feeling that he might leave.... I....", he started to sniffle. "No baby don't cry. Things happen alright? Especially in high school. Please don't let those people get you down." His mother comfortingly said. "Exactly. Be proud of yourself, embrace who you are. Please." His father added. Devin slowly shook his head. "It's not that easy....", he said quietly. "Not everyone is going to accepting like you guys and Jason. I know for a fact that there are some people there waiting for me to give the signal for them to ruin my life.... I can't let that happen." He said. "Just please... just let me stay like this for a while longer...", his parents both nodded even though there was much more they had to say, they knew that Devin just needed a bit of quiet. "Ofcourse darling."
