"Jason Aslan has migrated." Said a chubby female teacher, catching the attention of the class. Devin felt his heart stop for just a moment as his mind went completely blank. "You will not be seeing him for the remainder of your highschool years." She give Devin an apologetic glance. "I'm sorry. I know Mr. Aslan made quite the mark on most of you here but please remember that him leaving isn't the end of the world. There are a variety of other people in which you could interact with!", she said trying her best to cheer up the many sad faces that now filled the classroom.
Devin spaced out. Whatever she said next was a complete mystery. This couldn't be happening. Was this a nightmare? A sick prank put together by Jason and the teacher? His hands began to shake. Jason had always played pranks on him. Maybe this was just another one of them. 'Yeah.' He told himself. 'He's gonna burst through the door with that dumb expression on his face. I'm definitely gonna punch him when he does.' But he didn't. The period ended and lunch began but there was still no sign of Jason. He was beginning to get frustrated. 'Duh Devin he's in the library. He's probably laughing his ass off right now. Such an idiot.' He thought, frantically making his way towards the library. Before he could however, a strong hand grabbed him by the back of his shirt and threw him against a locker. Devin groaned in pain as he looked up at his attacker.
It was Derrick Mackenzie, the head of the jocks and Jason's friend. "Where the fuck do you think you're going faggot?", he growled. Venom evident in his words. Derrick was your stereotypical jock. Tall, broad shoulders, tanned skin, and of course, blond hair and blue eyes. Devin groaned. "Piss off. I don't have time to help boost your ego." He said, carefully getting up. "Check your schedule." Derrick said sarcastically, blocking Devin from leaving. Devin looked around, they were attracting quite the crowd. "You see what you did?! You made Jason leave!", Derrick said forcefully pushing Devin, making his back hit the locker hardly. "Listen dickless I don't know how it is that small brain-", he was cut off by receiving a sharp punch to the jaw. The crowd cheered, some girls snickered, others laughed.
"This is why I hate gays. You're all nasty fuckers! You scared him away! You made him leave because you couldn't just leave the 'falling inlove' bullshit to the girls!", he spat, kicking Devin's stomach. Devin fell to the floor, his hands wrapped around his stomach. "Jason isn't gone!", he shouted, catching Derrick off guard. The crowd fell silent and he bit his lip. He gingerly looked around. Phones were out, whispers were shared, fingers were pointed, but no one intervened. Derrick began to mockingly laugh causing Devin to lower his face. "God you're so fucking retarded!", he laughed. "Ofcourse he's gone dumbass!", he said loudly causing some of the students in the crowd to laugh. "No he's not...", Devin whispered. Derrick raised an eyebrow, a broad smile plastered on his face. "He would never leave-", "You?", Derrick said watching Devin's shocked expression. He chuckled. "God you're dumber than I thought." He said stooping down to Devin's level. "He left because of YOU. YOU made him uncomfortable. No man wants to have a nasty ass gay friend around them. You were an embarrassment to him." He said smugly.
Devin felt cold tears run down his burning face. 'No.... he wouldn't....' he thought. 'He promised...' he lowered his head and silently cried. "Devin!", Christine shouted, pushing her way through the crowd. Derrick snickerd as he watched her help Devin get up. "What the hell is wrong with you?! This asshole literally tried to steal your boyfriend." He said. Christine glared at him, walking up to him with her hand supportively on Devin's shoulder. "So much as come near him and I'll rip you a new asshole. Don't forget who my father is." She said coldly.
Derrick growled and pushed pass the stunned crowd. "I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner. Let's get you to the nurse. I'll tell my dad to let you go home for the rest of the day." She said kindly. He said nothing, breaking her heart. She sadly watched the tears run down his pale face. She was going to make Derrick pay.
Devin felt numb. "I'm sorry...", he whispered. "I'm so sorry."
