THIS CHAPTER WILL CONTAIN THE USE OF BAD LANGUAGE AND OFFENSIVE AND TRIGGER WORTHY TOPICS. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED
It had been two years since they met. Two years since they became best friends. Two years of Devin trying to desperately hide his feelings for Jason. Upon entering and going forward with their friendship, Devin had ignored his once small crush for Jason. He did not want to destroy their blooming friendship and did not want to make a fool of himself by confessing since Jason was...... painfully straight.
After a year of them being friends Jason had gained some amount of popularity among their peers which led to him getting a girlfriend. As if Devin needed more reasons to keep both his sexuality and feelings to himself. Jason's girlfriend was a pretty, petite Chinese girl named Christine who enjoyed everything cute in the world, and Devin adored her. She was the nicest person he had ever met in his highschool and they were often found together.
As much as he loved her, he couldn't deny his jealousy. Seeing her everyday constantly reminded him of all the things he could be. Of all the things he was not. It pained him to watch the person who unknowingly stole his heart kissing and loving someone else. But he was a friend and he made a promise to himself to always support Jason even if his actions were sometimes not in his favor.
His mask was wearing away fast and Jason was starting to notice just how in pain he was. It killed him to lie and say that he was alright, but what else could he do? It was his fault after all. He had been the one to encourage Jason to talk to Christine after realizing his crush on her. He had been the one to set them up on a first date. He had been the one who created this! He created his own problem!
Devin hated being the 'nice friend'. The friend you tell all your secrets. The friend you trust. The friend who always stays a friend. He missed not having any friends, being labeled as 'the quiet kid'. Not having to worry about the pain that was social interaction. He hated that Jason had so easily pulled him out of his bubble because now he could never go back. He could never cut ties with Jason. He would miss him too much........
Now he just felt pathetic and tired. How did he ever allow himself to be so careless?Present day
Devin sluggishly made his way down the school corridor not bothering to hurry even though he was late for class. He wanted to go sit in the library but today he had physics and it was just too important to skip. He stepped into class and immediately caught the attention of the teacher. "Ah sir Dawn. It seems you have no manners to not even greet your own teacher." Devin rolled his eyes and begrudgingly made his way towards his seat. Jason watched him. Concern written all over his face. It was very evident that Devin wasn't getting much sleep and it killed him that Devin wasn't telling him why. Aren't friends supposed to share stuff with each other? He felt frustrated but his attention immediately drifted to too girls sitting directly behind Devin who were whispering and pointing.
"Isn't he that fag?", one of them whispered. "Yeah I heard that he's in love with Jason. Like ew." The other whispered. Devin visibly flinched. "That's just disgusting." "Can the two of you fucking shut up?", Jason angrily asked. "Language mr Aslan!", the teacher shouted.
Jason groaned and turned his attention back to Devin. "Hey...", he said placing his hand on Devin's shoulder. Devin immediately pulled away and stood up. "I'm going to the bathroom." He quietly said before running pass the angry teacher. "Yeah just run out of my class why don't ya?", she grumbled. Jason quickly followed after making the class erupt with curious whispers.
