◟ ✦ I'm not a parrot, Cullen. Answer my question. ❞

IT WAS A COUPLE OF DAYS since Luna had lashed out at Edward, but the interaction kept replaying in her mind. She was typically the observer, content to stay on the sidelines and avoid drawing attention to herself. The discovery of these foreign abilities shuffled the cards of what she was used to and now, Edward was involved, complicating everything. Her emotions were all over the place, and the lingering resentment she felt toward Edward left her in a constant state of unease.

Luna approached her friends at their usual lunch spot, her gaze involuntarily flickering toward the Cullens' table. The sleepless nights were taking a toll on her, and the scrutinizing looks from Edward's family only added to her irritation. Not to mention the inscrutable expression on Edward's face as he turned to speak with his siblings, undoubtedly about her.

If you have something to say, say it to my face, she thought, rolling her eyes as she hurried past their table. How juvenile.

She dropped her bag onto the floor and slumped into her chair next to Bella. Her friends barely noticed her arrival, accustomed to her quiet presence.

"Hey, La Push, baby. You in?" Eric's cheerful voice broke through her haze.

Luna raised an eyebrow, unsure what he was referring to. "Should I know what that means?"

Mike leaned in, explaining, "La Push Beach, down at the Quileute Rez. We're all going tomorrow."

"Yeah, there's a big swell coming in," Jessica added, stirring her yogurt absentmindedly.

Eric jumped up, pretending to ride a surfboard. "And I don't just surf the internet!"

Mike joined in, imitating Eric's exaggerated surfing moves. Jessica rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed. "Eric, you stood up once, and it was on a foam board."

Eric pouted as he sat down, and Luna chuckled as Tyler playfully shoved Mike back into his seat. "I would, but..." She paused to sip her water. "One, I don't know how to surf."

"I'll teach you!" Mike offered eagerly, starting to rise from his chair again.

Luna placed a hand on his shoulder, gently pushing him back down. "Two, I shall not ruin my hair."

Tyler snorted, causing her to look at him while caressing her braids. "You talk just like my sister with oh my hair this and oh my hair that nonsense."

"Well, she's obviously the smart sibling," Luna shot back, fake-pouting at him as the group burst into laughter.

Angela smiled, enjoying the banter. "There's whale watching, too, if you're not into surfing."
