◟ ✦ I've lived 100 years, but I've never
felt alive until I met you. ❞

LUNA'S EYES FLICKERED UNDER HER EYELIDS, the darkness of sleep shattered by nightmarish visions. A cold, mocking voice echoed in her mind, piercing through her subconscious like a stake.

"Be careful, I wish not to disturb the natural powers."

"So your reputation perceives you. So much power in a fragile frame."

"But would you die for them? Just like mommy?"

Luna's breath caught in her throat as she bolted upright, gasping for air. The void around her was suffocating, pressing in from all sides. She spun around in the blackness, her heart pounding as she saw a single hospital bed, bathed in a sickly light.

"Mom?" Her voice trembled, barely more than a whisper. Her mother lay lifeless on the bed, her once-vibrant skin now ashen, her features sharp and hollow. "Mom!" Luna cried out, her voice cracking with desperation, though she knew, deep down, there was no answer. The image dissolved before her eyes, leaving her alone once more.

She whirled around, finding herself face-to-face with Edward. His expression was gentle, his voice soothing but distant. "I'm going to make it go away, Meadow."

Before she could respond, another figure materialized—the cruel, menacing gaze of James. His laughter filled her mind, a psychotic sound that made her heart race with fear. She squeezed her eyes shut, pressing her hands to her ears, trying to block it out.

"Luna?" Bella's voice cut through the terror, pulling her back to reality. The hospital room came into focus, the soft glow of a few lamps casting long shadows. Luna blinked rapidly, her vision still blurred, until she could make out the concerned faces of Edward and Bella.

"Luna?" Bella's voice was gentle, but urgent, as she moved closer. "You're okay."

Luna opened her mouth to speak, cringing at the small mousy sound that came out. Her throat and lips were dry as a desert, she swallowed harshly, licking her lips to try to moisten them. How long was she unconscious?

"Two weeks," Edward answered her. He unscrewed a water bottle, placed a straw in it, and walked over toward the bed. He hovered it in front of her, Luna smiled softly in appreciation as she grabbed it and slowly took a sip. As her eyes were looking down at the drink, they shifted to Bella's leg cast.

"It's okay," Bella assured her, though Luna's eyes filled with tears. "But it's not," she whispered, her voice trembling. "You almost died because of me."
