DAYS AFTER LUNA'S FIRST DAY, her life changed, surprisingly for the better.

Though Luna met Bella later than the others in her new friend group, she quickly grew closest to her. Living together had made that inevitable. When Bella had noticed Luna's distress that night while they were studying, she had insisted that Luna stay with her and Charlie. Despite Luna's protests, Bella had been adamant, and to her surprise, Charlie welcomed the arrangement without hesitation. His easygoing nature was both a relief and a burden to Luna, who felt guilty about imposing, yet she couldn't deny how much she enjoyed the warmth of their home.

Charlie, often away due to his job, was grateful for Luna's cooking, and she found solace in his quiet gratitude. Luna obliged, saying that she would pay him and be the cook. Charlie tried to tell her not to worry about the money, but he couldn't say no to home-cooked meals.

Luna had already started her new job. She only worked one shift, and when she received her timetable, she saw that the woman was right; she didn't have that many shifts a week. She was grateful that Charlie told her not to worry too much about money, but she still planned to help out any way she could.

She still enjoyed the smile on his face when he ate the meals she prepared. Bella was genuinely becoming her other half. Bella was becoming more vocal than she was at school, which made Luna feel special. She felt that further when she woke up one morning to see a brand-new leather journal on her nightstand.

School was a different story. The comfort she found at home vanished the moment she stepped through the school doors. Her classes were manageable, except for biology—the one she dreaded most. Edward Cullen, the cause of her unease, was conspicuously absent, but that didn't stop her from subconsciously searching for him each day. The anger she felt toward him for his behavior on her first day had only grown, festering into something more complicated.

The funny thing about grudges is that few people can hold them for long. Luna just so happens to not be one of those people. She wasn't one to feel pure hatred, but fury... was another story.

Every morning, Luna and Bella sat on top of Bella's orange truck, sharing earbuds and listening to music. Luna found herself curating playlists on Bella's phone, songs that quickly became her favorites. Yet, no matter how hard she tried to lose herself in the music, her thoughts often drifted to Edward. His absence was unsettling, a void she couldn't quite explain.

This morning was no different. As she and Bella shared their usual routine, Luna's eyes scanned the parking lot. Still no sign of him. Her gaze, however, did land on Emmett, standing by the Cullen's Jeep. His eyes met hers, and Luna quickly looked away, unnerved by the intensity of his stare.
