Cairo's POV
"So where's Nova and Katara?" Becky asks as the two of us walk into the team meeting room here in New York.
We're in New York ahead of our game against the Netherlands and today's the team's rest and recovery/off day.
"Nova's taking Katara to Time Square to shop for some toys." I say then I notice the entire team staring at me as the door shuts. "What?"
"C...Check your phone." Christen says so I do so.
Once I'm on my phone I click my most recent notification which is a tweet about an article so I click the article.
Oh fuck.
The article's about why I went to Iceland.
"Fuck." I mumble then I look up and see everyone looking at me.
Some are giving me sympathetic looks, some are giving me concerned looks, and some look worried.
Wordlessly I spin around, walk out of the room with Koda, then I head up to my room.
Once at my room I grab my cleats, my headphones, my phone, my wallet, and a bag of balls.
After I have everything, I need, Koda and I head down stairs, walk out of the hotel, get in my rental car, then I drive to Red Bull Arena.
Once at Red Bull Arena, I park in the underground parking area then Koda and I get out of the car and grab the bag of balls from the trunk before we head onto the pitch.
"Being alone in a stadium is so odd." I mumble then Koda whines. "Well almost alone.
Koda yips then she lays down so I put the bag of balls down and put on my cleats then I take off my shirt so I'm only in a sports bra, shorts, and cleats.
I then put my AirPods in, turn on my music, and start shooting on goal
After a while of shooting from long range, I line 5 of the balls up around 25 yards from goal then I start what I call anger shooting.
Basically I shoot hard and don't care about where the ball ends up and yell whatever is on my mind.
Ball 1.
Wide left.
"FUCK!"
Ball 2.
Row Z
"WHO WOULD DO THIS?"
Ball 3.
Down the middle.
"WHY?"
Ball 4.
Top right.
"FUCKING HELL!"
Ball 5.
Middle left.
"Why?" I whisper then I collapse to the ground and lay with Koda.
Koda and I lay in silence for a very long time.
After an hour or 2, I decided to head back and face the music so I stand up, collect the balls, put my shirt back on, then Koda and I put our stuff in the car, get in the car, and head back to the hotel.
Once we're parked back at the hotel, I grab my boots then Koda and I get out and head to the team meeting room since it's dinner time.
"MAMA." My baby says as I enter the hotel.
"Hi princess." I say then I scoop my princess up into my arms. "Did you have fun toy shopping?"
Katara vigorously nods then she babbles on about they toys she bought as I carry her into the team meeting room.
