CHAPTER 6
I looked around. This was going to be my new home…
“Would you like us to show you around?” Jaejoong enthusiastically grabbed my hand and pulled me into the kitchen first.
“Wait for us, Jaejoong!” Junsu shouted and they all followed us into the kitchen.
“This,” Jaejoong spread his arms. “Is our kitchen, where you’ll be cooking. We hope this room will get more use now that you’re here.” He looked at me hopefully and I smiled with a nod. “See, here is refrigerator, stove, microwave, oven, sink…” He motioned to everything as he said it. “We even have a dishwasher, which will make your work easier.” I smiled and he went to a tall, ceiling to floor cabinet. “In here we have…snacks.” He closed them immediately. Apparently that wasn’t what he wanted to show me. He went through the cupboards, “Plates, bowls, and cups…pots and pans…containers, lids, and bottles…where is the—“ Until he found what he was looking for. “Oh, here! Come see!” I walked up behind him. “Spices! See all the wonderful spices we have? They don’t get put to good use, but they will now, right?” He turned to me.
I nodded, scanning the small shakers of different colors flakes and powders and such. I remembered the days when I would experiment with spices while trying to help my mother cook. Sometimes it turned out ok and…sometimes it didn’t.
“Isn’t it nice?” Jaejoong was saying.
I snapped out of my memories and looked to where he was motioning.
“I’m sorry, what?” I asked, but my voice was overlapped by Yoochun’s.
“Jaejoong, let someone else do that room. That way we each get to show her something. You can’t do everything.”
Jaejoong pouted, but stepped back as Yoochun took his place introducing her to what Jaejoong was trying to explain. The dining room.
“It’s nice that the kitchen opens up to the dining room, that’s what Jaejoong said.” Yoochun told me. I nodded in agreement. “We brought this jade table from our previous apartment. It’s good, huh?” I felt the smooth, pale surface and nodded again. “And here is a picture.” Yoochun motioned to the wall, where there hung a big picture of the five of them together, laughing.
They had different hair and looked a bit younger, but it was definitely them.
It was a nice picture.
“My turn, my turn!” Junsu chimed, bounding to the front of the group. “This,” He swept his arm to the left and then faced me. “Is our living room space. We have this…” He walked in and I followed him, trailed by the other four. “TV...and game systems. Changmin and Jaejoong really like video games.” I looked back at Jaejoong and Changmin and they grinned at me. “We also have a nice sound system, and here are all our CDs.” He motioned up and down at the bookshelf full of CDs. “Lots of CDs…”
Wow, that’s a lot of CDs. I wonder if any of those are their CDs. I still haven’t had a chance to listen to them yet…
“And here is the couch. There’s a chair over there too.” Junsu plopped himself down on the couch. “It’s very comfortable. Sit down.”
I sat beside him and sank back, flailing my arms as I lost balance. It looked a lot flatter than it was.
“Whoa!” I laughed until I regained my composure and sat straight. “Yes, it’s very comfortable.”
