CHAPTER 24
I woke up with a start and shook my head. Whoa, that was… I don’t know what that was… I got up and got ready for the day like normal. I changed into jeans and a turtle-neck shirt and pulled my hair back into a messy ponytail. The boys left the house after breakfast—like normal. I kept my apron on and started cleaning, then was surprised to see Jaejoong sitting on the couch, reading a book.
“Wha—! Jaejoong, what are you doing here? I thought you…”
“Left? No, it wasn’t mandatory for me to go and I wanted to stay here with you.”
“I have to go to class at 1:30.” I reminded him.
“I’ll drive you there. When do you get out? I’ll pick you up too.”
“Jaejoong, why are you giving me so much attention. We’re not “together”.”
“Yet.” He added. I shook my head at him, but decided not to argue and continued dusting. “Can I help you?” He asked.
I stopped and looked at him. Well, he did stay behind to spend time with me. And it would be awkward to have him sitting here and watching me like that…
“Sure.” I threw him the duster. “You used to clean this place, you know what to do.”
He stood up, but didn’t get straight to work. First he put in a CD and turned up the volume. And I must admit… I’ve never had so much fun cleaning before. I was glad he stayed. We sang and danced along to the music. The broom was microphone until Jaejoong stole it to be his dance partner. Then I tapped his shoulder.
“May I cut in?”
He smiled and we dance for a bit, before I push him away, saying we needed to get back to work. We laughed and joked and played around and it took me twice as long to get the work done. Distracted by looking at my watch to see what time it was, I didn’t see Jaejoong come up to me and grab my rag.
“Hey, give me that back! I don’t have much time to get this done!”
“Come and get it.” Jaejoong taunted.
I screwed my mouth to one side, but my eyes were still smiling.
“I said, give it back! Jaejoong, get back here, I’m serious!”
“Sure you are. That’s why you’re laughing.” He said, backing away from me and climbing over the chair.
“Oppa, why are you being like this?”
Jaejoong stopped and looked at me. I stopped too. I had always imagined me and Changmin doing this. Not me and Jaejoong… Jaejoong grinned wryly and dangled the rag in front of my face. I grabbed for it, but he snatched it away in the last second.
“Yah! Jaejoong, stop it! Aish, you’re so immature…”
I managed to grab hold of the one corner of the cloth, but Jaejoong had a tight grip on it. I grabbed his wrist and tried to pry his fingers open. He took my wrist with his free hand. I pushed him back and he pushed me against the wall. Suddenly the look in his eyes changed and my heart froze. He leaned his face toward me, but before he could do anything, I push him again. He fell back and I fell on top of him. Our faces had been this close before, but our bodies hadn’t… I started to get up, but he rolled over, trapping me with his hands on either side of my head.
“Jaejoong…”
He put a finger over my lips. “I love you, Sun-hi. I want you to love me too. I need you to love me…”
